Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

I will say that besides that jumper issue, my Reloaded is doing fine with all other functions!

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

I'm looking at the Gerbers and connection to the ground plane is indeed missing. Kai, I DM'd you on Discord about this back in September and you said it was there in Sprint, so maybe the Gerber export screwed up? In the attachment you can see the three big pins (one is square). The middle...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Sounds like your board has the same problem mine did!

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

You say the center pin did nothing - this is the problem I had, it should be grounded, not "nothing". there is a center plane in the PCB sandwich that the center pin should be connected to. So you should continuity check the center pin to a ground pin. See if the two points with arrows gives...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

To be clear I submitted a complaint 2024-01-09. The response I received on Jan 9 (from Mark) seemed to misinterpret my complaint as a question about the jumpers or about revisions. I didn't follow up after that though.

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Just wanted to chime in with a problem I had with my Macintosh SE Reloaded board from MacEffects - an internal trace was missing/broken from one of the three RAM configuration jumper pins. So no matter what my configuration was, I would get a crash upon boot that looked a lot like the ones I've...

    800k drive not ejecting well

"I replaced the entire gear box assembly from a spare drive - with original gears, and was confirmed working." Maybe I'm misreading but it sounded like replacing the gear box fixed your issue? In any case, did you redo the lubrication on all the metal parts? Old grease should be removed and...

    800k drive not ejecting well

I personally kept finding more and more tiny gear teeth in my gearbox when I was having similar issues. I did find that after replacing the gear the drive sounds different, just like you said, that seems to be par for the course in replacing these gears.

    IRC Client: Wallops

I've been using MacIRC but running into a 1 megabyte memory limit. I tried Wallops and I love the look, but unfortunately it just keeps crashing on me. I can connect (I'm using chat.macintoshgarden.org to bridge to Discord and Facebook Messenger) but if I try to do anything I get error type 2.

    Mu0n's Color Classic thread

I'm quite a big proponent of RaSCSI. Besides the base feature of emulating hard drives, you get ethernet emulation (which can be bridged to wired or wireless ethernet from the Pi), external video card emulation (I use an HDMI->VGA converter to use an original monitor), plus the built in ability...

    Mu0n's Color Classic thread

Macintosh Garden runs an IRC server that can bridge over Messenger, Discord and one or two other services. It's clunky, but it does work. It requires you to send your credentials over IRC so do it at your own risk.

This is interesting, did you pay for insurance through Buyee? I always select lite plan, no repackage etc... Maybe I've just gotten lucky so far. My CCII arrived undamaged.

Hey! That's me (74XX/@callanbrown). Sounds like we have near identical machines now. Do you have a rascsi or ethernet card for your machine? I have successfully setup Facebook Messenger on my CCII, going to try Discord next..

Performa 275 (CCII) w/ LC 550 board - Distorted sound in one channel

Follow up! Bought a cheap mobo for a Quadra 630 that had the 343S0129 chip. Swapped it in, problem fixed! Let it be known a failure mode for this chip is distortion.

Performa 275 (CCII) w/ LC 550 board - Distorted sound in one channel

Lol, I'm afraid thats not helpful. I too can google the part name and find a hundred of these websites, they do not actually have these chips.

Performa 275 (CCII) w/ LC 550 board - Distorted sound in one channel

Yes I'm going to have to find a replacement. It looks like a number of LC boards has them so maybe someone has an otherwise dead board I could scoop one from. Someone in another thread mentioned they were able to buy some from somewhere so maybe I'll send them a PM.

Performa 275 (CCII) w/ LC 550 board - Distorted sound in one channel

Again thanks for your offer to help, but I am an Electrical Engineer and fix arcade boards on YouTube etc (channel 74XX), I have done all the usual checks. Just really hoping someone can say whether or not swapping the 0129 might have a chance of fixing it or not.

Performa 275 (CCII) w/ LC 550 board - Distorted sound in one channel

Appreciate that but theres only one chip related to sound as far as I can see, the one I mentioned, and it's been resoldered.

Performa 275 (CCII) w/ LC 550 board - Distorted sound in one channel

When I recapped the board nothing was yet leaking, I suppose I'll eventually remove the '0129 to check. I would be surprised since the issue just popped up like yesterday.
