It seems that my 2006 Xserve 1,1 820-2006-A motherboard (2x3Ghz) has a memory manager issue, and I'm going to replace it rather than spend more time trying to fix it. The question then arises... Like for like, or should I upgrade to a newer board? I have no idea if other boards fit as straight swaps, or not?
There are far more experienced XServe tinkerers in here than me, can any of you shed some light on what boards are straight swaps?
I love the unwieldy yet well built industrial design of these computers, and would love to make this one as usable as possible within the constraints of a straight swap.
