Green Tint on VGA CRT Monitor Connected to Macintosh IIx

Update! I've installed GammaCorrector 1.1.1 from the Macintosh Garden, and it has worked really well to get rid of the green tint! In person, it still doesn't look perfect, and there is a noticeable green tint just a bit off of where the desktop is. However, I only spent a few minutes playing...

Green Tint on VGA CRT Monitor Connected to Macintosh IIx

I actually just remembered that I have this thing, a Communications Specialties Inc. Scan Do Pro, that looks like it might be able to do the job. I'll have to try it out and see if I can get it working!

Green Tint on VGA CRT Monitor Connected to Macintosh IIx

Unfortunately, adjusting the gamma does not fix that much for me. There are only two options for gamma: Mac II Std Gamma and Uncorrected Gamma, and it doesn't change when I hold down the option key and click on Options.... Even though it doesn't really look like it through the camera, selecting...

Green Tint on VGA CRT Monitor Connected to Macintosh IIx

Ah, that is just a bit over my budget for this! However, would the "Mac Sync-inator" I found on BMOW work for this?

Green Tint on VGA CRT Monitor Connected to Macintosh IIx

Unfortunately, my adapter doesn't have any DIP switches. Do you have any recommendations for a specific sync-on-green converter?

Green Tint on VGA CRT Monitor Connected to Macintosh IIx

I just picked up a Gateway CRT monitor along with a Pentium 4 Gateway tower PC for four dollars total. I also got a NAD MR13 for free with no vertical deflection that I need to repair, along with a neat IBM PS/2 keyboard that was two dollars. The Gateway PC turns on for only a split second...

Two 1986 Brother EP43 Word Processors... Double the Fun?

One day I was cleaning up, and realized that one of the latches on the top cover of my prized Brother EP43 word processor had snapped off! At the time, I couldn't find the fragment that broke off, but it looked somewhat easy to repair. So, I did the first most logical thing that came to mind...

G4 Digital Audio and 20" (A1038) Cinema Display -- goes blank on bootup

Do you have another graphics card compatible with the G4 to try the Cinema Display with?

The BlueSCSI Project: Replacing My Dead Quantum ProDrive

Finally! I got a BlueSCSI from JCM, preassembled. I believe it has wifi functionality, but I haven't tried that out yet. I was initially having some trouble getting my 2GB Microcenter SD card to read in it, but I think it was too old. I instead used a new 64GB SanDisk microSD card in an adapter...

Help with CRT image on Macintosh Classic I

Yay! Thankfully none of my old compact Macs have a screen geometry problem, but if one does, I've learned a lot from this thread!

Help with CRT image on Macintosh Classic I

That’s unfortunate that adjusting the controls themselves didn’t work. Good luck adjusting the yoke, and hopefully that fixes it!

Help with CRT image on Macintosh Classic I

I just realized that I was probably wrong in telling you where your focus, height, and width adjustments were! I was thinking about my Macintosh collection, not including the Classic, which all have those adjustments inside the case. Apparently, there's a service panel that can be removed to...

Help with CRT image on Macintosh Classic I

I'm not really an expert on CRTs, but a quick Google search suggests that adjusting the deflection yoke might fix your problem. Just to be sure however, maybe try adjusting three of the four variable resistors accessible on the side of the analog board facing outwards from the machine first...

Help with CRT image on Macintosh Classic I

Are you testing it without the back case on? I've noticed that when I test my Mac Plus without it's back shell on, the image becomes somewhat distorted, maybe with some ripples. Was it doing this before you recapped it?

The BlueSCSI Project: Replacing My Dead Quantum ProDrive

Today, I stuck another hard drive in the IIx, along with another high-density floppy drive. The hard drive I put in is an old Rodime 20MB hard drive from my external Rodime drive enclosure that was designed for the Macintosh Plus. One or two of the capacitors in that enclosure had failed, and...
