Mac Classic I ROM Boot w/ BlueSCSI Issue [Resolved]

I was able to figure it out. The main culprit was that I recently replaced my 16GB SD card with a 4GB SD card, but I never formatted the new SD card from FAT32 to ExFat. This prevented the drive from appearing when booting from ROM. It also caused the slow downs when booting from BlueSCSI...

Mac Classic I ROM Boot w/ BlueSCSI Issue [Resolved]

Hi All, When I boot my Mac Classic I from ROM (Command-Option-X-O) while my BlueSCSI is plugged in, the system locks up once it reaches to the desktop. Does anyone else have this issue? As shown in the screenshot, the system gets to the home screen, and the cursor changes to the clock wait...

Disassembling and Recapping Apple IIc Internal Power Converter

I do somewhat recall the Console5 listing being different. My guess is that the capacitor covered the "0" so they thought it said C1. C1 is actually on the other side of the board.

Need help with my Macintosh Plus

Double check for cold solder joints, especially around all the connector and the capacitors near the top on the analog board. You can also try to wiggle/warp the analog board a bit to see if it has any affects during boot; if it does then cold solder points would be the culprit.

Here is the pinout for creating a composite video cable to connect from a TRS-80 to a video monitor. Needed: 5 Pin male DIN connector RCA cable with connector I went with creating a short adaptor cable with a female RCA plug, this way I never need to reach behind the CRT to plug it in and...

Repairing Mac Plus Sony floppy drive not ejecting

I recently came across two 800K Sony floppy drives where the disk was not ejecting. I replaced the gear which is known to break, but the eject motor just wouldn't engage. After some troubleshooting, cause of issue was a failed transistor. Background I've had one floppy drive (MP-F51W-23)...

⚠️ Caution about using sun to restore yellow plastics

I've had an interesting case which I haven't seen anyone else document yet. I have a couple Mac Plus keyboards at various stages of yellowing. For most, only top part was yellowed, bottom part was mostly ok. I decided that for the bottom part, leaving it out in the sun for a couple days would...

Reproducing the Lisa 2 Card Stack: The CPU Card

4 layer board! Good luck on this endeavor, I wish you no faults on your 1st revision. Looking at that board scan, the "USA" part of "Made in USA" seems suspiciously covered up. Could it be that this board was designed in USA, but subsequently produced abroad, hence the cover-up?

Restoring a Apple Monochrome IIe Monitor (A2M6017)

Attaching the SAMS schematics which I used to troubleshoot this. I believe that the A2M6017 and A2M2010 have the same insides, just that the A2M2010 is an earlier revision, they are slightly different color. https://tinkerdifferent.com/resources/a2m6017-a2m2010-monochrome-monitor-sams.91/

Fixing Stiff Apple IIc Keyboard Switches

I'm glad my explanation made sense. Agreed, I pushed up just one or two millimeters using tweezers on both sides. Trying to figure out how that initial first mm to let loose was the hardest part. I bend the first key quite a bit trying to figure out a good way to get it apart. This will...

Restoring the Apple II Keyboard (Datanetics 01-0551-0)

The keyboard on an Apple II Plus I aquirred was in dire need of a restoration. Full model of this keyboard is Datanetics 01-0551-01 Rev B, which is the 2nd keyboard to be made for the Apple II (original one was model 01-0425). . I started with the keycaps. I gave them a good wash in soapy...

Restoring a Apple Monochrome IIe Monitor (A2M6017)

I got my hands on an Apple II Plus along with this Apple IIe monitor which had no vertical drive for about $170 USD, which I think was a great deal. This (above) is the only picture of the monitor that existed in the listed auction, the description was vague. Upon receiving the monitor, it...

Apple IIc horizontal lines on boot

I've been waiting for over a month for the replacement ram I purchased on eBay to arrive, but it hasn't yet. However my new DRAM tester I recently purchased arrived. I decided to pop the ram which I expected to be bad, but to my surprise the RAM ICs are good! This would mean the problem lays...
