agreed. even wiping it the only stuff that "should" have been written over was the os area. The blocks should have been marked as erased but the info should be still there until it is actually written over.
Things happen, who knows if anything was even on the drive. It is still fun to see this...
We DID find a macOS rom from John. We are all trying to work together to find a way to get it to work for others who don't have the rom. I could be a programable flashed rom chip or @joevt is working on a boot loader type of idea. The experts working on this will see a breakthrough. Right now...

I just finished recapping a Performa 550 board that would not boot before. After a cap replacement the board booted right up. The only problem is the left side of the screen is distorted and eventually has other blue color distortion across the icons when it is booted up.
