[Centris 650 / Quadra 650]Nubus Slot Bracket/CD ROM Plate and MicroSD Card Extender for SCSI Emulator?

Hello, I recently picked up a refurbished Centris 650 with a SCSI emulator installed internally in the HDD caddy. That's awesome, but I don't want to have to open the machine every time I want to do something to the SD card (like add new disk images). I'd like to get a 3D printed part to...

Help Request: HOW TO Guide for Cleaning an Apple Extended Keyboard II (AEK II)?

Did you run into any issues with brittle plastics? I want to do a full clean, but I'm wary of the plastic clips just disintegrating to the point I can't reassemble the board. I'm assuming you just used IPA on the PCB itself? What about the switches?

Help Request: HOW TO Guide for Cleaning an Apple Extended Keyboard II (AEK II)?

Thanks! It didn't occur to me that they would have teardown guides for antiques. I will admit I wasn't planning to completely disassemble the case. I did want to get the top off so I could clean around the switches, but I'm wary of destroying the plastic if I start messing with the clips. Even...

Help Request: HOW TO Guide for Cleaning an Apple Extended Keyboard II (AEK II)?

Full of much excitement and Big Retro Energy from watching all our favorite Vintage Mac YouTubers ( ;) ), I finally bought a reasonably-priced AEK II on eBay. I took care to pick a listing whose written description actually mentioned that the keyboard was clean. tl;dr I have been lied to. :P...

USPS Maimed the G3 Minitower I Ordered on eBay; Questions about Testing/Repair

Thanks, everyone. :) I really appreciate all the advice. I'll need some help to move it out of the closet again, but I'm definitely going to try powering it up. It was working when sold, so unless the flying retention clip did some damage, I'm optimistic. I'm definitely not ruling out a case...

USPS Maimed the G3 Minitower I Ordered on eBay; Questions about Testing/Repair

Warning: Depressing photos attached. tl;dr USPS did their best to destroy the excellent condition G3 Minitower I bought on eBay, including, I think, actually dropping it at least once (the box clearly exploded open, and the power cord it was shipped with did not arrive. I've already gotten a...

G3 All-in-One: Typical Restoration Necessary When Buying Used?

I've asked the seller to post photos of the back, and about any cracks, and whether the ZIP drive is present. I agree that this thing is appealing. I love the idea of what is essentially an expandable, more powerful iMac, with Old World Mac ports (SCSI!). Will report back. At the moment, a lot...

G3 All-in-One: Typical Restoration Necessary When Buying Used?

I'm in trouble. I just realized I have more than enough room for it if I move my printer. Someone please tell me this is a terrible idea. :P

G3 All-in-One: Typical Restoration Necessary When Buying Used?

@Certificate of Excellence thanks for the reply. I definitely appreciate the warning about the iMac pricing. Local is the way to go, I think. I'm actually looking at one of these. https://www.macstories.net/mac/the-power-macintosh-g3-all-in-one/ Steve rescued one, seen here: Look at those...

G3 All-in-One: Typical Restoration Necessary When Buying Used?

Hello! I'm less than two hours away from someone selling a G3 All-in-One on Facebook. I'm really interested, since I don't have any vintage (pre-Intel) Macs and it seems like a very interesting way to start. I really like the idea of a PPC Mac with a compact Mac look and expandability, as well...

Advice re: What to do with MacBook2,1 (Late 2006)--Worth Repairing?

Oh, I mis-spoke. The 4GB memory upgrade (2x2GB) is ~22 USD shipped. (I'm in the US.) The single 4GB sticks are way overpriced and have been since @Action Retro made his video about this laptop. The battery was about $70, but I decided to commit to that in exchange for a lower likelihood of...

Advice re: What to do with MacBook2,1 (Late 2006)--Worth Repairing?

@Branchus & @Certificate of Excellence : Thanks for your replies. I'm glad to know it's almost certainly not something corrosive. :) Since it didn't have a strong vile smell as described in, e.g., Bruce's videos, I was really hoping it wasn't cap juice. I thought it might be lube, but flux...

Advice re: What to do with MacBook2,1 (Late 2006)--Worth Repairing?

Hello, I recently found my Mom's old MacBook2,1 (13" Black Plastic Macbook, late 2006 Core 2 Duo revision. She'd stopped using it years and years ago, when it just stopped powering on one day, and wanted me to try to get the HDD out and the data off. I pulled the battery and plugged the laptop...
