Anyone remember the OJ Simpson chase animation on older Macs?

Might be worth trying After Dark 4.0... It might require that version to work properly.

What did you do to you computer today?

Got the Mac Pro home and set up. Looks like it needs an Airport Extreme wi-fi card installed on the logic board, since there's no ability to connect to my wi-fi network, unless I use the TP-Link dongle that I've used with my G4. Also got an mid-2010 A1278 MBP with the Mac Pro, which I may...

Ok, good. It's probably the same.

    LC575 computer killed LC520 motherboard! 😭

Maybe something happened to the power supply after the initial testing. I don't think there's enough of a difference between the 520 and the 575 to make it impossible to use a 520 board in a 550 or a 575. With respect to the drive, pull it, then connect it externally to either your CC, or...

    Tucows Mac Software Collection

I wonder if it'd be a good idea to upload the final version of the info.apple.com FTP server to the 'garden, provided that doesn't get us in trouble with Apple themselves. I saved it locally to my MacBook Pro, so I can access everything via File Sharing on one of my other Macs - usually my G4...

What did you do to you computer today?

Sounds like you guys have been busy... @PentaxEnthusiast Sounds like it might be time to find an SD or CF adapter that can plug into the IDE cable inside the machine. That would at least let you use an "SSD" solution on it. Spent some time transferring documents and music to my old A1186's...

    Macintosh IIfx questions

Same. Mine is with 8MB. Had 20MB in my old IIfx that I owned between 2013 and 2016(?)...

What did you do to you computer today?

Haven't seen a thread, like the ones over at the other forum, so figured I might as well get it rolling. About 30 minutes ago, decided to see if I could get my MacBook back up to 12GB RAM. A few days ago, I made the mistake of letting my phone drop onto the palmrest between the keyboard and...

Getting An Old MacBook Air & Installing Linux (Ubuntu? Mint?). Any Advice?

Upgrade the SSD to something larger, then you can dual-boot both OS X and Mint or whichever distro of Linux you decide on. Am doing something similar to a client's 2013 MBA, albeit, keeping it OS X. The stock 128GB SSD is full, plus he would like to be able to get rid of his original 2009...

Official Tinker Different Poll: Board Size Reduction

As long as everyone continues to be active, I'm in favor of it. We all want to avoid what was happening over at the other forum, of course.

First official C64 in 36 years

The keyboard seems to be an improvement over the original. Sounds more like an Apple M3501 keyboard. With respect to the tan color of the function keys, those are more like what you'd find on a ViC-20. From what I remember, early C64 machines did come with them, whereas the later breadbox...

It also seems that wthww has rekindled his interest in tinkering around with his machines, which is cool. Previously, he only seemed to drop in when some crash occured.

A way to get System 7.1 to show free space in kilobytes on a hard drive...

See here: https://websites.umich.edu/~archive/mac/misc/documentation/finder7.1hacks.txt There is also a way to do the same under at least System 7.5 and 7.5.1, but I've forgotten where the "6500" code is that needs to be changed to "6000". As far as I know, no one has been able to hack 7.5.2...

    System sounds in Sys6

Kind of a necropost, but the old SoundMaster control panel works for this. Another utility not mentioned is the SoundBuilder 2.0.1 application. Plays any SND resources (aka sfil Sound files). Can even play them backward, if desired.

Today’s pickup - “portable” IIgs setup - help needed

Yeah, for gaming, most of the time, you're going to want it at normal 1 MHz speed. A lot of games become somewhat unplayable on the fast 2.8 MHz setting. A couple aren't bad, like Rampage, etc. But something like Night Mission Pinball or the old DOS 3.3 Brick Out game will be nearly...
