Anyone know what kind of card this is?

Greetings fellow Mac Heads and Vintage computer enthusiasts.

I'm undertaking the fun journey of an SE Reloaded build. The SE I purchased was from eBay and listed as 'For Parts'. Thankfully, it wasn't just for parts. When disassembling things and getting into the insides -- I discovered a card that was installed in the PDS slot. After some gentle persuasion, I was able to extract the logic board. The card had no PDS connector [that we'd expect on a card]...just pins in the PDS connector on the logic board.

When looking at the card, it had what at first glance was a high-density SCSI connector [I'd come to find out later that it's not SCSI]. The card also had the look of a modern-day PCI card [with the type of connector located on one side of the card].

Closer inspection -- a 68030 processor and a 68882 FPU....and a crystal indicating that this would be running at 25MHz....no wonder why the SE started up so quickly.

Now, the fun part -- there are NO markings whatsoever on this card to indicate what maker made this card, date of manufacture or anything else....just know that it's an accelerator for an SE.

With all this said...anyone seen this kind of card in their travels, who possibly produced it or have an idea of what kind of 'extras' that this card holds?

Any help, insight or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello my friend!

This looks like a TransWarp accelerator, perhaps similar to the TW4300!

I have seen this in my Travels. The high density card-edge is for a cache expansion!

Hi Anden! Thank you for a point in the right direction and for the information.

I did a bit more research on Applied Engineering and their line of accelerator cards. It didn't dawn on me to even consider them, since I associate AE's accelerators with the Apple II, the TransWarp GS really. I have one of those in an Apple IIgs, still running to this day.

Sooooo....a possible TransWarp card -- and with what appears to be some added extra chips on it. I wish the photos I found showed the back of the card. All of them showed the top of the card, with an optional card plugged into it.

Definitely a step in the right direction to figuring exactly the genesis of this card.

Again, my many thanks for the deets. =)
Jason.
