Can new PLCC chips be programmed for the SE/30 ?

Apologies if this has been covered but I can't find the info. New to this one. Would be nice to have extras of course. Especially interested in the GLU and SWIM chips. I believe the other PLCC mounted chips can be replaced off the shelf or are otherwise available?

Well the SE/30 has a few options for programmable ROM SIMMs - the EPROM on the board is the video ROM.

oh I see. yes, I was using the wrong term. Are GLU and SWIM chips for the SE/30 only available from salvaged boards? I guess other SE/30s and Mac II ? No way to make modern equivalants?

Correct - GLU is a custom ASIC (VTI Gate Array), SWIM is a custom ASIC, the ASC is a custom ASIC, the SND has been reverse engineered, the RTC too, the VIA chips are merely 65C22N's from WDC, the GAL's have been reverse engineered and made available and the rest is off the shelf.

The Sony SND chips are the two DIP ICs at UB10 and UB11. They are mainly interesting because they trigger the initial reset of the system when power is first applied. They have been reverse engineered since they are not very complicated.

The ASC is that PLCC chip labelled 344S0063-A

right. so my understanding is the proprietary chips are the GLU, SWIM and ASC. The only way to get these is to take them off of old boards. Are the ones on a IIcx or similar Mac II's compatible with an SE/30? I would assume the GLU is not?
