What's the best way to fix a stripped-case screw hole?

Specifically I'm looking to fix the screw hole where the CRT is grounded to. My front case/bezel arrived with the CRT ground hole in a stripped condition and when that screw pops out, the ground wire lets loose and I get video distortion.

I've heard baking soda and super glue works to repair screw threads/holes in plastic but what's the best way to accomplish this task on a compact Mac?

I would do that with metal but plastic is easier to fix.


I won't say the following is the best way to fix a stripped case thread but I can say this definitely worked for me.

Take a small-medium size clip tie and cut two pieces of it as long as the screw threads are:


If the case isn't badly stripped, just one piece of clip tie may be enough, insert the piece in the hole:


Put the screw on top of it and twist it in:


If the case is badly stripped, remove the screw and put the second piece of clip tie on top of the screw:


Screw it in:


And cut off the excess:


Much easier and less of a mess than JB Weld, or baking soda and super glue.

Looking at it from another angle: You don't have to use that specific standoff for the grounding lead, any of them will work.

But the CRT would still be loose in that corner, needed to keep that altogether.
