    Mac SE/30 bad condition

from my previous experience, I woudl 1. start by cleaning the board and start checking connections, sometimes it looks worse than what it actually is. iand depending on your experience I would consider getting a bolle reloaded and transplanting everythign to the new machine -- its a process that...

    shipping from Japan

Hi there! I have purchased 2 times from buyee.jp and they pack well (or at least they have done a good job) IF you are still concerned you can pay extra to buyee.jp directly to re-repack your items to have more peace of mind. So far the only issues I have had from japan is that the 2 boards I...

    Mac SE memory management

+1 to what @JDW suggests -- also check http://www.applefool.com/se30/ (long read but worth it) -- you might want to try working with system 7.0.1 basically uses less ram with the features that 7+ has

Rolled the dice on an SE/30 from Japan, salvageable?

you have a bunch of traces gone, you will have to take out the rom slot also and see how bad is underneath, the RTC looks gone but I might be wrong; best thing is to start cleaning it as much as you can and remove the old caps, THEN you can see the amount of damage you have fwiw not all hope is...

Odd Sound Issue on Recovered SE/30 Simasimac

the garbled sound doesnt have anything to do with any of the audio system, you will have to check all the digital and analog connections from the processor to all the parts -- there is a matrix that you can use from the digitized schematics Check...

Odd Sound Issue on Recovered SE/30 Simasimac

Odd Sound Issue on Recovered SE/30 Simasimac

it could be the amplifier IC below Q1 and Q2 (cannot recall the name, its surface mounted and has 8 pins) -- next to that blue cap. It would be helpful (for you) to clean all the flux with isopropyl alcohol also. Finally -- does the same noise happens with your headphones?

Building a Micromac Performer SE from components

Hey Everyone 👋 Me again, on this episode I show you how to build a micromac performer accelerator card for your Mac SE -- here we convert the Mac SE to a "Mac SE++" which has a 68030 processor with FPU and MMU the "++" part is because is not a SE/30 as there is no way still to add more ram...

Macintosh PortraitDisplay Recap and Geometry Adjustments

Alright, it took me a bit to do this but here is the 2nd part! I tested this out with another video card and with B&W works well. I then went ahead and changed the monitor + the original (defective) card and with B&W works "well" -- in regards that you still see the background as blue 🤔...

Macintosh PortraitDisplay Recap and Geometry Adjustments

hey @JDW ! Thanks for checking out the video! :). That's a great point, I didnt show how the monitor looks with a different video card :(. But the plot gets better! -- with the same video card, I realized that I had the monitor set to black & white, that video card lets me set the video to...

Macintosh PortraitDisplay Recap and Geometry Adjustments

Not sure where to place this (mods let me know if its fine here, else I can move it :)) The Apple Portrait Display, released in 1989, was a groundbreaking monitor that broke away from the conventional 4:3 aspect ratio of its time. Designed with productivity in mind, it featured a tall 15-inch...
