What's the best Video solution for a Vintage Apple IIe in 2025?

Also one more shows the geometry settings. It does allow one to move the image but the scaling is integer. In another place I can set the resolution of the hdmi video.

What's the best Video solution for a Vintage Apple IIe in 2025?

The second screen shows the RGB2HDMI overlay that allows to control many things, including geometry, but appears that only allows for integer scaling of pixels in this configuration, so it is not filling the screen. I could try using other resolutions to find a better fit if one exists.

What's the best Video solution for a Vintage Apple IIe in 2025?

Here are photos of my screen connected via the RGB2HDMI with Arkanoid. I actually don’t know what it’s supposed to look like. I see interesting striped bricks in the second from the bottom row. And the border of text looks like it has artifacts - I’m not sure how those compare to other...

What's the best Video solution for a Vintage Apple IIe in 2025?

It does requires a little box and the cable for the Apple needs to be soldered onto a few spots (maybe 5 pins/wires) in the mainboard so that is a hurdle. I have mine inside the Apple now. It can be used in different machines with different cables. I have used it with a spectrum zx and compact...

What's the best Video solution for a Vintage Apple IIe in 2025?

One option that has worked well for me is the RGB2HDMI device. In my Apple II plus it can pick up the digital video signal for a ‘perfect’ image, including mixed text and graphics, without bypassing the internal video generator (including character rom, etc) There are instructions for an Apple...

    Quadra 700 video corrupted

After some time the screen had a stronger periodic pattern with black bands, suggesting that it should be the first or last of the 4 chips in the motherboard that was bad (assuming the video memory and placement in the board is relatively sane) I took my 50% chance and removed the first chip...

    Quadra 700 video corrupted

I am happy to say I managed to fix this problem. 😀 I replaced one of the video ram chips in the logic board with one I took of an unused video ram simm. The Quadra is back to normal! I guess I will save the other video ram chip in the simm in case another fails.

    Apple II Plus replica

Connecting the PCjr Joystick to the Apple only requires a couple of resistors and jumper wires.

    Apple II Plus replica

And now I can play breakout Maybe Woz will stop saying my score is terrible! 😁 I only had a 10K pot for the paddle (the Apple wants 150K) so I used correction capacitors (three 0.1uf in parallel to make 0.3uf). This is a great example of the "RC" circuit response only depending on the product...

    Apple II Plus replica

Hi everyone, For a while now I have been building an Apple II plus. I never had an Apple II before ... so this has been a great learning experience and a fun computer to play with. The motherboard is a kit from ReactiveMicro, and so is the keyboard encoder. The keyboard itself is a kit I got...

    Quadra 700 video corrupted

I have a quadra 700 that was great until recently when the video became corrupted, with a pattern shown here. This happened 'all of a sudden' while the computer was running. I have a new power supply, and the video is fine if I use a nubus video card. The problem is only with the internal...

LCD Screen Inside Compact Mac Case

I used a 'sandwich' of several pieces to mount the Pimoroni screen, in the following order, all held in place by the regular CRT screws. The front bezel I found on thingiverse and the other parts I designed to fit the Pimoroni screen and controller in particular. 1) bezel from thingiverse...

LCD Screen Inside Compact Mac Case

    SE/30 no video, death chime

you could try using the diagnostic mode described in this video to run some tests via the serial port, I’m not sure if it would help but could be useful to narrow down the problem.

    RAM SIMM storage

Thank you! I didn't realize zip was allowed :) Or I could stuff it, then binhex encode and paste the ASCII here ?? hehe Btw, if zip is ok, why prohibit anything? one can always zip the file..

    RAM SIMM storage

I think the forum software removed my STL attachment. I tried to edit the post and upload again, but it disapears when I post. Here is a shared dropbox folder with the STL and OpenSCAD files. There is one box to hold 30 pin SIMMs, and one box that holds other types of sticky memory things...

    [Help] Closing SE/30 Case

One issue I have sometimes is the power connector and switch not being 100% aligned with the holes in the back of the case. There is also a hook/clip in the inside of the back of the case (near the power switch hole) that connects to the analogue board when closing. If the analogue board is...

    RAM SIMM storage

Here is a small I organizer I printed to store 30 pin RAM SIMMs. Each tray stores 8 sticks. A second tray can also be used as a lid. I'm attaching the stl and openscad source file in case anyone would like to print one or several.
