Color Classic analog board re-design, needs community feedback.

Yeah, you got that right! so the HV supply switchmode is working, the +5 +12V one isnt starting through the power on command from the keyboard, im going to find out why that is, i do have the +5V from that HV switchmode side, and that is supposed to power up and activate the main PSU.

Well, got it all together, and on first power up the 5/12/-5 PSU side doesnt work, ill have to de-bug it to see what is holding it up. ill keep you posted on the progress

I'm about 95% done, and slightly nervous about the first power-up... :-)

Progress is a little slow, life's getting in the way a little, I'll get back to it soon!

Custom 9.7" Display (iPad 1,2,3) for Apple //c with STL files and build guide [Draft: work in progress]

Wow looks smoooth! also just the right color, and i like the modified knobs allot, looks really neat! meanwhile i have added the AVDVI mod as well, and now use HDMI for video input as it gives a higher quality image and uses more screen space for a larger image, i can recommend it! Really...

Progress report: I have started to move parts from one of the original boards, since not all parts are in yet, and it seems a safer bet as to start with fresh parts (except for all electrolytic capacitors) not done yet, but work is in progress! once it's populated i will run a test to see...

I'm populating the first revision PCB now, once we get this up and running we can find the best way of handling this, likely ship a batch to Europe, and a batch to the US, that then can be redistributed at a reasonable shipping cost. who knows what intl shipping will cost 2 months from now...

once all is clear and running, i would love to just add it to the shop at JLC/PCBway so you can just order it, populated and all. some more work ahead though, im sure there will be some snags to fix!

wow, that's a first for me, a shorted transformer! you could feed the right voltages in on the different lines there and see if something starts shorting once a certain voltage is exceeded, maybe its the 64V line that just gets yanked down once it reaches say 35V.

I have maybe serviced about 20 color classics all together, and i don't even bother turning them on when they show up, i just re-cap them and i have learned what components get loose over time, basically all magnetic components need re-soldering, the raster IC, the video amp, flyback, zeners...

Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

That is really cool man! I have had this idea for a computer for kids, totally offline, using the SW we have for education for OS7+ it would have to be low cost, but that seems achievable nowerdays. your project is a step in that direction, and i think its really nicely done! Kudos!

Here for those that do not use KiCAD, the current schematic in PDF form. Ideal to have for repair work. also the BOM in HTML format for easy reading and part locating. 95% of the parts have the LCSC order number, or if not available the Digikey order number, and also the datasheet link.

my biggest concern with these really was the PCB itself, cracked traces, electrolyte damage, loose pads, so many hard to spot issues creep in over time, making even the most experienced guys wonder if they should spend days on end getting it running again. my goal is to avoid that, and make a...

Color Classic analog board re-design, needs community feedback.

I've looked at that, but it is still very incomplete, less then 25% of the schematic is there. at least now we have the whole schematic, i have the PCB's in, so once some time becomes available i will add all the donor components and do some de-bugging if needed and see if it runs. i think it...

Thanks for the heads up on the capacitors, ill swap that round to correct the issue. On the power supply section and other issues with parts that do not have a replacement: the real problem here is that there is no work-around to not needing donor boards, the Motorola Jungle chip is...

    Performa 475, R85 issue

this part of the board is the most sensitive to electrolyte damage, im working on 2 boards that fully function, except for the audio output, vias here are often corroded away, and need to be connected by shoving a tiny wire through the hole to connect both sides. i have a strange issue now, i...

Color Classic analog board re-design, needs community feedback.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have spent quite allot of time fixing Color Classic computers, and always there was that one Major issue: the analog board PCB quality. Since it is a single sided FR-1 board with a super thin copper layer, populated with leaking capacitors this has presented myself...

    Color Classic Analog Board Trouble

yeah, these CC's can be a right pain in the ass... i'd check for PCB traces that are disconnected, especially when i can't seem to find any obviously broken components. there should also be DP22, a TL431CLPG voltage reference, that works together with the opto-coupler, this may be worth...
