Hot CLUT DAC on LCII ok?

Unfortunately I never got around to it. Do tell if you find the culprit!

    Short on 7100/66AV logic board

Excellent, thanks! That sounds promising - I'll try to get round to getting new caps on there to try it out.

    Short on 7100/66AV logic board

Thanks! Yes, it would be great if someone could measure that. Do you have yours accessible @Initialise_Disk ? I might already feel emboldened enough to solder the 26 caps and hope for the best…

    Short on 7100/66AV logic board

Thanks, I’ve tested now and there is 16 ohms resistance between positive and negative of all encircled pads. Resistance between other pads without continuity between positive and ground vary widely, C62 for instance has 337 ohms and C35 has 542 ohms. Some show values in mega ohms.

Thanks, yes I know to be careful. I have some experience with this but not so much without direct sunlight.

Thanks for sharing! I’m in a similar situation and will definitely try hydrogen peroxide cream and cling film on the balcony without direct sunlight.

    Short on 7100/66AV logic board

I got a hold of a Power Macintosh 7100/66AV a while back with some serious corrosion around many of the capacitors. I think @Kai Robinson has posted about the same kind of board with similar damage. I got the capacitors off without any visible damage to the pads and I scraped off the corrosion...

Hot CLUT DAC on LCII ok?

I have an LC II logic board that won’t show an image. I’ve seen that others have had the same problems, but I’ve recapped the board and tried with a PRAM battery. The hard drive spins up and the monitor leaves stand-by but there is no chime. I’ve noticed that the UJ10 chip next to the video...

    Strange Plus Mod?!

Thanks all! It’s also dead as a door nail so I’m going to try to coax it back to life - maybe I’ll start by putting a normal size cap in C1…I’ll save the cool shielding though!

    Strange Plus Mod?!

Sorry yeah, I should make the picture into a ‘find the differences’-challenge… ! Here is an up close of what seems like the automotive capacitor. The case was also lined with copper (see pic), something I’ve never seen before - I was wondering if and how this is relevant to the giant capacitor.

    Strange Plus Mod?!

I opened up this Macintosh Plus today and came across this mod - never seen it before! Anyone know what it does?
