    Mac Plus.. ticking analog board

Stubborn indeed. But soon or later I will really replace everything just to get to the bottom of it. Hope to share some new knowledge on this known issue : )

    Mac Plus.. ticking analog board

Yes. U3 brand new. Adjusted voltage from min to max with no results. Capacitors are looking very healthy, but I might have a go in a few weeks, when I find again the will to tackle this specific board hehe. If I have time I will "brute force it" and replace everything just to have the...

    Mac Plus.. ticking analog board

Hello people. Time to pause this project. I replaced the transistor and the flyback transformer and still nothing.. chirp chirp chirp. I checked all the documentation, scrolls and papers, tested the components and didn't find any other issue on the board. At this point I will wait to bump into...

    Mac Plus.. ticking analog board

Will do. And let you know if the living room catches fire : ) Behind the vinyl mask there are some markings around the main transformer, but tracks on the main board are just fine. Same around the flyback, not a trace of burning on the board. Another question.. are out there modern replacement...

    Mac Plus.. ticking analog board

Damn, it sounds like I will probably fry the replacement once installed ... worth trying regardless since I don't have many options. Question: I have somewhere a spare analog board from a MacSe (not sure if SE30).. is the flyback compatible with the Mac Plus board ? Or maybe the size was a tad...

    Mac Plus.. ticking analog board

Ok.. after replacing U3 the problem persisted. I reassembled the Mac and I was ready to put the project aside... and I saw this (image attached) That transistor was staring at me with a huge smile... this is just to state how important is visual inspection.. and how something so obvious could...

    Mac Plus.. ticking analog board

Quick update.. Replaced the Q12 and now from an irregular "tick tick" I have a very loud, regular " chirp chirp". Improved.. sort of haha. Will go on and replace U3 as well and see what happen.

    Mac Plus.. ticking analog board

Thanks a lot. Today I was indeed looking closely at Q12.. had some sort of patina on the legs .. but no burning marks. I was going mad to find a modern replacement, thanks for that link! Will definitely replace the components.

Thanks a lot for your messages.. been new in this community it's great to see all this support. I will replace a few resistors and diodes around the T3 area, got some odd readings on board, but so far when resistors and diodes are desoldered.. they just read fine. Will replace a suspicious...

VGA mod for the Macintosh Color Classic (640x480)

Thanks for sharing your story. I work in the visual effect field for the film industry in a big studio in London. I always been good with my life / work balance but is 100% true that a lot of people ( often propelled by the pure passion for their job ) are exploited. VFX and other computer...

    Mac Plus.. ticking analog board

Hello : ) Glad to be a new member of this community! I hope that someone can help me a bit : ) I recovered a Macintosh Plus, almost completely dead. Battery leaked on the analog board but no big damages on the traces or other components.. still. Once plugged in and turn on the only thing that...
