    nubus who dis?

Yes, eventually got it working on my IIci. And recently sold it to finance my other retro machines!

SE/30 crash when writing to floppy

So far all signals between the SWIM chip and the floppy ribbon cable connector are checking out OK. Could be something between the CPU and SWIM, but it's strange that it reads OK. Time to check the connections between swim and the CPU...

SE/30 crash when writing to floppy

SE/30 in good shape, logic board recapped, generally it's working well. It can read floppies fine, it can boot from a floppy no problem. But when I try to write or format a floppy I get the bomb and am forced to restart. The floppy drive has been throughly cleaned and lubricated, and heads...

Mac Plus floppy drive not happy

Are these new old stock gears, or just higher quality 3D printed ones?

    Silly SE/30 Question but.....

How did you mount the LED? The bracket in my SE/30 didn't have a place to mount the LED. I ended up soldering a yellow SMT LED to a piece of perf board, then soldered on the wires, and used double stick tape to hold the little board in place on the inside of the case. The yellow LED shines right...

Recommendatons for a new reflow station / hot air gun?

After years of mucking about with soldering irons and copper braid, I'm finally getting around to getting a decent hot air setup at the home lab. Not sure why but I just prefer the units with the fan located in the base, not in the handpiece. Maybe because it's like the professional setups we...

Mac IIci rebooting over and over automatically

Did you get it going? If not clean around and under those 74HC132D devices really good with IPA. There's something gunky going on under there.

Which Macintoshes, NuBus Video Cards Only Do “Sync on Green”?

The IIci schematic shows the motherboard video connector (J6) with VSYNC on pin 12 and HSYNC on pin 15. (There is also what looks to be a combined H and V sync on pin 3.) The wiring diagram for the DIY adapter seems to agree with the standard VGA pinout and the J6 pinout from the IIci...

Which Macintoshes, NuBus Video Cards Only Do “Sync on Green”?

This guy made his own adapter to get his IIci connected to an LCD monitor VGA port. It's not clear in the video if he is using the motherboard video connector or a NuBus display card. Also not clear if he was using a "sync on green" monitor. But it's working for him. It looks like he is...

    nubus who dis?

I've found some documentation for similar OrangePC NuBus cards, but so far I've not seen anything like this one with that miniDIN 9 pin on the back. What is that usually used for on the Mac? A serial port? I think the DB25 goes to some type of breakout cable for parallel/serial/floppy etc. (was...

    nubus who dis?

Here's a better picture of the Orange Micro card. Looks to be a 25MHz Cyrix Cy486SLC CPU with 2 x 1MB and 2 x 4MB SIMMs installed. I've not yet found much info on this, other than it is basically a PC on a card that runs DOS or Windows. Maybe Win95. Supposedly it runs this environment within a...

    nubus who dis?

Well OK, my IIci with the nubus mystery card just arrived. Turns out there is a 486 hiding in there! OK what's this thing do?!? Also there's a cache card. Nice. First thing I did is get the drives out and take a look at that battery. Thankfully the battery bomb has not yet detonated...

    nubus who dis?

I realize this isn't much to go on, but any ideas on what this Nubus card might be? Looks like a 9 pin mini-DIN and DB-25 connectors. Searching for images and descriptions of Nubus cards with these kind of connectors hasn't turned up anything. It's installed in a IIci currently headed my way.

Community project? NuBus-to-SPI interface... aiming toward ESP32-based WiFi card

Great project! I like the idea of the ESP32 inboard with a coax pigtail to the antenna mounted to a metal bracket. Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGAs were mentioned a few posts back, just heads up, we were told by Xilinx directly that these parts are now totally obsolete and unobtainum. At work I'm...

Help identifying this Ethernet card from my SE/30

I tried installing some Dayna drivers, but the included utilities did not detect the card. So I'm not sure what card it is, but it turns out system 7.5.5 supports it natively, no drivers required. Once I got Open Transport installed and configured I was up and running, connected to my home...

Help identifying this Ethernet card from my SE/30

Any ideas what make/model this Ethernet card is? It was installed in my SE/30. The green LED turns on when connected to an Ethernet switch. Is a driver is required to make this work? I'm running a stock 7.5.5 OS installation currently.
