    BlueSCSI NeXT quesiton

Hi Michael. I ran into similar issues when installing NS 3.3 on a 712...but did get it working. A couple of things... 1. Make sure your NS 3.3 drive is 2GB. NS 3.3 can not use 'drives' larger than 2GB. Use the dd command to create the image. -- 2GB dd if=/dev/zero of=hda bs=1M...

Successful Recap of an SE/30 ASTEC Power Supply Unit

Great that you've had such a good result with this! I have recapped several Sony and Astec PSU's for both the SE and SE/30. All of them are happy, thankfully. I did have one of the Hitachi, "Made in Singapore" models which gave up the ghost though.

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

I've been meaning to publish an update here to things that happened back in late May. Since then, the issues with the first SE build [v1.5b] have been resolved. Those issues were centered around Floppy, SCSI and ADB. Interestingly enough, all of the issues were fixed by changing out the...

Mac SE w/dual floppies - where is the System stored?

Good that you have system disks...those can be gotten from multiple sources online [for multiple versions]. If you're going inside your SE...clean, lubricate, change the cheese gear and recap the drives. You'll save a lot of headaches later on. For a good reference on how to do all of that...

Mac SE w/dual floppies - where is the System stored?

Hi there. You'd need a system disk each time you start up. There is no storage in ROM. Once you have your SD card solution in place, no more need for a system disk, since you'd have a System Folder there.

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Heya @Kai Robinson More detail for your review. I got my SE put back together after the little ADB fiasco I found myself in. First startup, there was some happiness....a startup chime, followed by an arrow pointer and a disk with a flashing question mark. OK, I thought...we're gonna be good...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

    Hiya @callanbrown. Alrighty...after some further looking into things, here's what I found: 1. When using a 1MB setup [4x256KB SIMMs]...placed in SIMM1 and SIMM2, with J16 set to the 1MB position - startup chime with vertical lines. 2. When using a 2MB setup [2x1MB] placed in SIMM1 and SIMM2...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Finally got to testing things out. My initial tests were just focused on the jumpers, which appeared to have continuity as expected. In a conversation with @JDW, I got a little more direction and did some further testing. The results were: When testing, I did it in either direction, using...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

@JDW and @callanbrown -- I'm about a day away from final assembly of my board -- socketed IC's and such. I can test with 1 and 2MB combinations when things are up. As far as the schematics...those I don't have. However, if they're available somewhere, can certainly take a peek.

NeXT Station Color Collection for sale

Wanted to chime in a bit on this.... The 'sound board' in the NeXT MegaPixel B/W displays are exactly the same ones used in the Soundbox. Used for connecting a display and keyboard up. For using a Soundbox, you do need a custom Y-cable that lets you go from the Soundbox to a display -- this...
