    I miss the internet...

Today, as I was commenting on something heavily politicized, I was grounded. The comment I had submitted was marked: "pending moderator approval due to our policy" which further meant, there's no way you're going to say what you are freely thinking nor are others going to be able to see it...

Indy Vintage Computer Club Meetup June 11th, July 9th - 2022

44 on high quality setting pictures and requires a hard to come by 4MB smart media card. You can’t use the larger ones unfortunately. Not sure if it’ll connect with OS7.1 I use 8.6 but either way, transfer all the photos with a smart media PCMCIA card on a PowerBook so it’s fast and easy.

Thanks! Sometimes but not with these. They’re straight from the camera with no photoshop or touching up. There’s a lot of light in the library so that helps.

Indy Vintage Computer Club Meetup June 11th, July 9th - 2022

Another successful event at the Indy Vintage Computer Club meetup today at the Lebanon public library! There were a number of different machines present for the looking! I brought out the Kanga and Newtons (130/2000(2100) and the QuickTake 200 again, as expected. Somehow, a dozen fresh Long's...

Indy Vintage Computer Club Meetup June 11th, July 9th - 2022

This past weekend I had a chance to take some toys to the Lebanon public library for our monthly Indiana Vintage Computer Meet. Arrived a little later than I had wanted to but still had a solid two hours before people started heading out. It runs from 9am to 2pm once a month, every second...

with some modern filters, you almost can’t tell this is from a QuickTake #MARCHintosh *ok, just kidding - on a real monitor you can definitely tell!

    If you're on the fence between a MP120/130 vs a MP2000/2100...

I've seen a lot of photos who have had theirs become sticky or used to a decaying degree so that could be an offset in regards to the 2K series. Good to point out but not a deal breaker if you get one in decent condition.

    If you're on the fence between a MP120/130 vs a MP2000/2100...

Shoot for the 2000/2100 When I had sought out and received the MP130, I had thought it was the perfect size and would do the job just fine. Actually, the larger size of the MP2K was what put me off going after it originally. Curiosity sat in and I found the perfect MP2K (upgraded to 2100 even)...

Experiments with the Apple QuickTake Cameras...

I can't take credit for the idea but knew I had to get one, the problem is they tend to still be quite expensive printers being a medical-field replacement item it seems. Finally lucked out after waiting a few months to find one in as-is condition for $50. Check out Sony UP-850 or Mitsubishi...

Experiments with the Apple QuickTake Cameras...

The ultrasound printer arrived today. Interesting to learn that it's 22-years old. Having worked in IT the majority of my life and dealing with hundreds of thermal printers before, I was able to fix the 'issue' it had almost immediately. After taking a few pictures with the QuickTake 200 then...

    Apple Legacy Software Recovery CD

This one is particularly useful for installing the quicktake camera software as well! Had such a hard time with all the other downloads and this one just works.

MessagePad 2000 + extra surprises = The Pinnacle of my Retro Macintosh Office -- Completion!

Awesome! I just got it last night and have had limited time with it. Hopefully this weekend I'll get a chance to set it all up proper and give it a try.

MessagePad 2000 + extra surprises = The Pinnacle of my Retro Macintosh Office -- Completion!

So... I've been on the fence about getting an MP2K for a while now, mostly due to both condition and/or prices that they tend to go for on eBay. Sometimes in quite worn condition, other times asking $400. Neither of which I was eager to get behind. Bearing that in mind, I was willing to accept...

Time Traveling with Slide Scanners & Photographs - Minolta Dimage F2400 with PowerBook G3 in 2021

Round 2 of Time Traveling with Slide Scanners on vintage Mac gear.... I've never been a fan of war or the idea of war outside of video games but this slide says WW2 - Cathedral - 1968 and found it to be quite vivid looking for its age. The detail is kind of astonishing to me for a 53-year old...

Experiments with the Apple QuickTake Cameras...

I've decided to mix some modern AI overlord algorithm into the retro mix to see what results could be had. While it doesn't do much in way of actually defining the image any better or magically somehow turning it into an HD image, it does help smooth out some of the jitterbugs and pixelated...
