    NuBusFPGA: HDMI on NuBus Macs

I'm glad to see someone making progress on this. It's something I've wanted to build for a while, but got stopped by the parts shortage. Even laid out some rough schematics based on the Graphics Gremlin, and also looked pretty deeply into using a Spartan 6. @Zane Kaminski and I exchanged notes a...

    Classic II Conundrums

Checkerboard usually means the 5V supply is too low to power the system. In addition to recapping the analog board, there are a few other common failures. I had to replace a mosfet and an optocoupler on my Classic to get it running. It's been about four years since I did it, but it looks like...

Apple Two Page Display - NuBus Card Required?

Nice! Glad you got it working. I did seriously consider grabbing it, but I'm already out of storage space and I'm afraid my cheap ikea desk would collapse under it 😄 I have a couple NuBus cards I pulled out of Computer Reset that look like they may support it -- I was going to suggest we could...

Apple Two Page Display - NuBus Card Required?

Looks like there are a few Apple and 3rd party cards that could drive it: https://vintageapple.org/gamba2/vid-mon-matrix.html I saw one of those for the first time this weekend. Beast of a monitor. @warmech you wouldn't happen to be the guy that picked up the one from the freebee table this...

    SE-VGA

You'd want RGB2HDMI or something like a traditional Extron video scaler for that. I'm not working with the original video signals at all. I'm caching the video buffer data as the CPU writes it to main memory and generating my own video & sync signals from scratch. A video scaler that works...

    SE-VGA

I built a parallel port programmer following a diagram in an old Atmel datasheet. Requires an XP machine with a proper parallel port to run AtmelISP V6. I recently read that openocd supports the USB Blaster and the Atmel chips. I need to try it. Would save the step of copying to an old computer.

Opening an external LaCie Tsumami case

I have one of these I picked up from Computer Reset. Be sure to take a good look at the power supply. The filter capacitors had burst open in mine. I also had to replace the fan. Surprisingly everything still worked just fine, bad caps and all. I'm running a blueSCSI in it at the moment, but...

    SE-VGA

I'm using an old version of Altera Quartus, targeting the MAX7000S series and converting with POF2JED to burn onto the Atmel ATF1508 part. All my logic is written in Verilog.

    SE-VGA

@Kai Robinson suggested I share this here, originally posted to Tumblr on May 25, 2021 -- SE-VGA Inspired by recent work on creating modern reproductions of the Mac SE logic board and following my previous CPLD VGA generator project, I’ve been working on a PDS card for the Mac SE that mirrors...

    Bluescsi 1.0A too quiet!

Nice! I tried adding a transistor and a 5V relay to the I/O pin for the activity LED to make clicky noises for the same purpose. Was not successful. Somehow screwed up my first bluescsi in the process.

Interesting solution for LocalTalk to Ethernet bridge

@trag nice pictures! Orbit Semiconductor still has a website .. barely. I can't find anything useful beyond the obvious — they were an ASIC company. I can't imagine there's much need for really complex logic for this board. Probably a DRAM controller, some address decoding, maybe some timing...

Macintosh Portrait Display Repair - Smearing/Pulsing Image on Screen

Oooh! My Portrait display is doing the same thing after spending a decade in non-climate-controlled storage in east Texas. I've been putting off diving into it, but that cap list gives me a great head start. Thanks warmech!

Interesting solution for LocalTalk to Ethernet bridge

I managed to snag a lot of 3 Micro AsantePrint units a few weeks ago. Tested with my Classic -- was able to connect to my Netatalk server just as easily as my IIcx does with its ethernet card. Ironically, I couldn't get it to print :D
