OHHHH thats what it is. when i was first messing around with linux many moons ago i was using rage driver just fine. but that was when these cards were kinda new. So i didn't get why people were having trouble now. .. didn't think about how a newer kernal might be incompatable with what is now...

Apple Two Page Display - NuBus Card Required?

I know for like '040 macs (like the quadra 700) you do NOT need a special card. just a cable that had the correct connectors on both sides. Some retromac famous youtuber talked about it recently. But I can't remember off the top of my head who... But maybe they will see this thread. or maybe you...

    Source for RAM?

at the risk of being wrong on the internet. i think the parity is just ignored on macs. you can use simms that have the parity chip but it won't have the parity stuffs

    Too many categories

I agree and like categories for that reason. However, when i go to the front page i often get exhausted looking at it and lose any and all energy to interact with the forum. I have a few ideas for knocking around for a few months now. and i just never got the energy to post about them because...

    Getting a Macintosh SE Online

its all the fun of the hobby. We are all just messing around with it anyways. think of it as a fun experiment. I guess if you DID go the RaSCSI route you might still be waiting on a Raspberry PI ? I think you should still play around with the serial thing and see if you can get slip working...

    Getting a Macintosh SE Online

I thought of that. but decided not to try to explain it as its getting in the weeds. besides i didn't THINK the SE could do it. as you indicated. my memory is fuzzy, but i remember it not being stable. but i might be conflating the problems with AFP over IP with early versions of mac os x. it...

    Getting a Macintosh SE Online

    Getting a Macintosh SE Online

Thats the understanding I have. but you could setup ftp to do file transfers that way. (or HTTP ....) again, assuming you can get slip working. but i don't see why you couldn't. So if you WANTED to do AFP file sharing. i would setup phone net. I think they are still pretty easy / cheap to find.

    Getting a Macintosh SE Online

oh so its NOT ethernet emulation. its encapsulating IP packets over a serial connection. Can't do appletalk over it, but thats still really cool way to get internet protocals to work on classic compact macs. (if it works)

i paused my collection a few years ago because i ran out of room. When i moved into this bigger house 3 years ago, i still almost never pick anything up because the prices have just gone full rocketship. However, sometimes you get lucky. an early Mac128k with sad mac i got for ~$50 a year ago...

    How do you pronounce “LIDO?”

both the wrong way and the correct way sound the same to me. i think everybody else is on secret missing to screw with me. claiming there is 2 ways when really its just one. ... Although i realize its prolly just my own hearing that doesn't allow me to tell the difference between the two ways.
