I think im tickled pink and all the colors of the apple logo just for being mentioned in the same breath as dragThing. Id have to try it to see what it does. I think it’d be best for MacDock to stay the minimalist route. Very curious to look at DT having spent tome tinkering and getting to...

ThinkC MacDock dev progress -- Like today's macOS Dock but for System 7

Yes by design. Just a partial hide so its still useful even in a cluttered desktop. i may add a full hide option (but id still leave a little nub or tab there that you could click on. Otherwise the only way back to it would be to use the traditional app switch menubar menu which if already...

ThinkC MacDock dev progress -- Like today's macOS Dock but for System 7

Good ideas -- sounds like 1 .1 version is already needed! Thanks so much for giving it a whirl!!!! The Update App List I should have deleted (doh!) as it's just a manual call to updating what's shown on the dock [which normally gets called automatically by various means. I didn't get to making...

ThinkC MacDock dev progress -- Like today's macOS Dock but for System 7

Ok heres the update: In addition to the earlier post on supporting non-compact-mac resolutions and the single blink, I added an option for auto hide. Auto Hide isn’t all the way like macOS Dock’s auto hide where it goes all the way away until you mouse hover the bottom (maybe some other day…)...

Anyone know where to point me in creating custom window frames? I’m using a borderless rectangle window from the ResEdit window options but Id like to have a rounded-corner one (not offered as an option as far as i can find). Figured i needed to do some kind of custom deal.

ThinkC MacDock dev progress -- Like today's macOS Dock but for System 7

Good back and forth guys. i did try the single blink and it feels solid. I also added code to automatically position the dock at the bottom center of the screen (before it was hard coded to bottom center of a compact mac screen. Heads up to future readers “resolution” meand dots per inch as...

ThinkC MacDock dev progress -- Like today's macOS Dock but for System 7

good point! I'll mess with it and see if the single flash feels good / satisfying. But you're correct the modern Dock on macOS only highlights (darkens actually) when you click on it (and while holding mouseDown) then returns to normal appearance upon mouseUp

Ok Ok got this done! ((recored with mouse click indicators)). I used the Inside Macintosh sectino in ToolBox Essentials that explained it all pretty well and aligned with your recollection.

I appreciate and welcome all suggestions! Keep em coming. And yes that’s a great idea. I’ll give it a look. Im interested in any method to help aboid the extra click into the app and this sounds quite plausible.

I think that's a good idea -- I've bo-guarded this thread far too much. I hope others are encouraged by it to post while I also don't think I should take up any more pages of this thread :). I'll do that. Thx

Blinking added. Thanks for the inspiration. For hover-over indication ill see what I come up with. First i have to find out how to detect where the mouse is periodically (I’m reading in Inside Macintosh it’s done by specifying a region and providing it to GetNextEvent and then adjusting that...

That's Freakin Awesome!! Thanks for the inspiration. What animation program do you use??? I must say it fills me with pride just to see you having taken the time (hours? minutes? don't matter!) to take my little design and give it so much more life, still. Humbled. Thanks :) Oh and yes --...

ThinkC New INIT for Systems 6/7: Today’s the Day

Git is great. A little less so if you have to transfer your code over to a a bridge machine to get it to git tho... And then there's the issue of losing the resource fork coming out of the classic world and into anything modern (ie what you'd use to get onto git). Git has a cool app(s) that...

Great ideas flowing here guys! I'll see what I can mock up. I def. like the idea of animations (pop up in some way) and definitely like the idea of making the Dock more easily accessible [namely when it's covered up in the background.... because if you have to unbury or use the native program...
