    Tinker Different 2024 Calendar Competition

I am not a board member, but being an Admin I may not qualify to enter. Even so, I am not seeing many photos in this thread, unfortunately, so I felt there would be no harm in adding a couple of mine, both of which I shot many years ago and which have been on my Flickr account for ages. The...

Apple Does It Again (reseller brochure)

This is a 1984 brochure that I completely refurbished. It provides Apple product dealers and resellers with guidance on how to sell the Macintosh 512K relative to the 128K model. ⬇️ DOWNLOAD NOTE! To download the PDF, please click the blue "Go to download" button in the upper right corner of...

Macintosh IIci video sync problems with modern LCDs

In addition to English, they put Japanese, Chinese and Korean on that label.

    Japanese vending machines

When I first came to Japan in 1994, one of the biggest surprises was that they sold beer in the vending machines. Not that I cared since I am not a beer drinker, but it was rather striking to see that for the first time. But the biggest shock came when I started using them and found they...

TashTwenty - Single-Chip DCD (Hard Disk 20) Interface for Macintosh

The good news is that Will (Caymac Vintage) will have them on his Ko-Fi store again soon. I actually received an email from him only moments ago, and it seems he may also offer some Tash20 units with the PIC16F1704 chips, By the way, I also have one of his Vintage Mac Voltmeters, which...

TashTwenty - Single-Chip DCD (Hard Disk 20) Interface for Macintosh

Indeed, and my previous post does not seek to, in any way, diminish the importance of the FloppyEMU. Everyone should own at least one. I personally own two (Revs B & C). But the Tash20 doesn't support floppy drive images (to my knowledge), which means the lack of moof support own the Tash20...

TashTwenty - Single-Chip DCD (Hard Disk 20) Interface for Macintosh

I only discovered the Tash20 about a week ago. Quite embarrassing that I missed this thread for so long. There's also a 68kMLA thread that's been following the project since its inception. Sorry to be so late to the game. As an owner of multiple FloppyEMUs, I think it is useful to make a...

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

Also, just to let everybody know, the 2.5" IDE to 3.5" IDE adapter that I purchased isn't usable as is due to the power connector being stupidly flipped 180° opposite of a normal 3.5" IDE HDD. What in THE world was the manufacturer of that adapter thinking!! Of course, if you connect it in a...

    SMC Fat Mac Switcher

Another absolutely fantastic gizmo from Kay Koba. I've long thought it very funny so many people pay high prices for either a 128K Mac or 128K motherboard only because it was "the first Mac." Dog Cow's technical dive into differences notwithstanding, the Mac512, with 64K ROMs, is essentially...

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

Here are the specs of my PDQ... Wallstreet, PowerBook G3 PDQ Machine ID: 312 SN: QT9031GPE6D Model: M4753 Date: Late 1998 CPU: 266MHz Backside Cache: 1MB BUS SPEED: 66 MHz LCD: 14.1" RAM: 320MB ROM: $77D.41F6

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

We must define what "perfectly" means though. In my Wallstreet PDQ, the SSD setup I've been testing boots fine now. The major caveat is that it no longer recognizes the 20X CD-ROM expansion bay module, which otherwise works fine when a spinning platter 80GB 2.5" HDD is installed. And as I...

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

Every failure is a learning experience. True, I wasted an enormous amount of time in that experience, but at least my having posted about the failure in this thread will save many other people the trouble of repeating the same failure. All said, what works on a Windows machine or what works...

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

I tried it, but to no avail. It shows the internal drive, which is the SSD, as ID0. But it doesn't show the 20X Apple CD ROM module at all. And I read the documentation which says those CD modules ARE supported, so it's not a limitation of FWB CD-ROM Toolkit. Again, I am very disappointed...

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

Very interesting... Not sure how "hot load" works on a technical level, but I will give that a try on my Wallstreet when I have some time. I then need to see about how to get it to work on my G4 Cube because I bought the SSD for that, not the Wallstreet. Even if FWB CD-ROM Toolkit works...

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

I've spend pretty much all of my free time in vain over the last week trying to get this mSATA drive to work in my G4 Cube. I've put in more than 12 hours, testing it with my G4 Cube, and also with my PowerBook G3 Wallstreet PDQ 14.1" 266MHz (as both an internal and external drive), as well as...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

I'm thrilled you solved the problem, and I apologize for not having pointed that out. I actually have a C67 warning in my Part I video here... But I edited the text description just now to make that part more clear in the INDEX, and I also added a little Warning emoji next to it as well. I...

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

I can try that, but I didn't do it yet because, logically, it makes the most sense to CLONE my internal SPINNER drive contents to the SSD, then put the SSD inside and use it. Sadly, because I cannot get Tiger to see it, I cannot use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my internal drive to the SSD. Not...
