    The LVDS cable probably is fine, its more likely the LVDS connector on the logic board side of things. The backlight driver is an LP8550 - commonly available these days, and pretty easy to replace with even a basic hot air station - flood the chip with flux, heat it, remove it, clean the pads...

    That assumes you can get hold of any - most of the ones i have are stockpiled, anything from Mouser that's a tantalum is about 2 years backordered (!)...

    Snow leopard will never run on PowerPC, the best that might be possible, will be Sorbet Leopard, but i think @z970 would have to do a bit more work to make it work with this hardware.

    The way i remember it, is you should be able to login via text mode console and edit it that way, if the X server doesn't run.
