Laptop battery rebuilding in the UK/ideas?

Hmm - can you take some pictures of the battery pack itself? You could take a punt on: http://www.power-supplier.co.uk/notebook-batteries/Latitude-X300.htm or https://www.good-batteries.co.uk/product.php/DELL+Latitude_X300_Series+battery

Breaking a Classic II One Step at a Time (Help!)

Yep, you have a short to ground. With the logic board disconnected, will the chassis power on?

Breaking a Classic II One Step at a Time (Help!)

Can you take a photo of the screen when you try? Clicking is usually PSU shorting and failing - might be a short to ground somewhere else.

Possibility of complete redesign and modern manufacture of LC-LC475 power supplies

You could have the SMD soldering done by JLCPCB if you have the BOM and P&P data to hand, then you only need concern yourself with the through hole parts.

What are your vintage grail items?

Gonna add to the list of mine - powerbook 550c is on the list now, too. And a 180c that doesn't have a melted screen. A Quadra 700 was on my list, but I have one of those, now! Also, an Acer 1170 — I had one growing up, upgraded to a home built machine, but I really liked the case. For...

    Mac SE FDHD issue

I've just spotted something in the image you've uploaded - the system has passed all the diagnostics and the low-level initialization (VIA's, SCC) - however, it's not drawing the rounded corners, or showing the pointer. So, you're getting to at least this line in the ROM's boot sequence...

    Mac SE FDHD issue

@Branchus - is this the same problem you had with the ADB controller basically dying and hanging up the machine?

    MAC SE/30 CRT problem

I also think you have a good enough board to migrate the working parts. Try and clean it up as best you can, the RTC looks like it might be saveable.

Gluten Free Vanilla Sponge tray bake

This totally isn't to make @Mac84 jealous and hungry, I promise 😂 This wasn't made by me, but by my wife, @boopbox123 So, it's a gluten free sponge, using xanthan gum, cut into squares - each square has the centre cut out, filled with seedless raspberry jam and then the centre put back in...

    What's this for?

They work quite well for lifting PLCC chips after you hit them with hot air - stick them under when the solder is solid, then the weight of the tool will ping the chip clear once the hot air melts the solder enough, and the chip stands less chance of getting stuck to other pads.

    Power Macintosh 475

The mythical beast that is the PPC601 Upgrade card, and the LC475, smashed together! This started life as a Japanese LC475 (no different to any other 475, but it's from Japan and therefore, cooler than yours). It actually came already with a 32MB SIMM in it and 2 x 512kb VRAM SIMM's, but no...
