    BlueSCSI on Macintosh Portable

Also I tried multiple systems. I booted off of a bare bones System 6.0.8 install disk and it still does it. So I need someone with a third party hybrid board (mine is @SuperSVGA’s) to confirm it is not happening so I know it is isolated to my board only. I could try @Androda’s hybrid board as...

    BlueSCSI on Macintosh Portable

OK yeah mine is 100% consistent and very noticeable. I have the talking moose extension on and after wake up he sounds like a slow talking demon from hell 😂 I’m wondering (again) if it could be related to the hybrid board I had to replace since it’s power manager related. 🤷‍♂️ if it is then...

Any IICX chip level repair experts? I've got a clock but RESET / ARST is stuck high

I realized that lol 🤦‍♂️ I made the mistake of trusting ChatGPT out of laziness instead of confirming. From 68030 reference. it’s seems to vary sometimes no? Anyway, now that I know it’s not RESET, I need to figure out what the key areas are to check with the scope. Im getting nothing front he...

Permanent til restart. sleep, wake, cpu slow til restart. I thought it was isolated to system 6 but it was a false alarm same thing happens in 7.5.3.

    BlueSCSI on Macintosh Portable

Found another sleep / wake issue. After waking, the cpu speed is much slower. before sleep cpu test from apple diagnostics reports cpu speed is 1.38 times faster than a Mac plus. After sleep / wake it reports cpu speed is 1.7 time slower than a max plus. I first noticed everything seemed...

Yeah. For now I just ran a small awg wire into the pin and plugged it into the floppy drive but I’ll probably make a new flat cable so I don’t muck with the original.

Any IICX chip level repair experts? I've got a clock but RESET / ARST is stuck high

Thanks, yes ive been pouring over the schematic. ARST is high.. I have a clock and thats about it. I fixed a bunch of broken traces so far and have re-capped the whole board. I thought ARST is active hight (since there's a line over the top) when its high the 68030 will be in reset correct? I...

Any IICX chip level repair experts? I've got a clock but RESET / ARST is stuck high

Finally revisiting this.. Which chick are you referring to exactly. I see no Sony chips they are all apple branded. Do you mean the Left and Right audio chips at UA15 and UB15 ? or do you mean UD14?

That workaround “fix” solved the issue. I ran a jumper from pin 11 of the floppy cable to +5 on the BlueSCSI and now it wakes from sleep and drive activity works immediately. Not the best solution but it works!

It Looks like there's a pin on the floppy cable the provides +5v on wake up. If that would work without a current overload, I could make an adapter that the cable plugs into and then the adapter could plug into the floppy and supply +5 to the connector on the BlueSCSI.

What about tapping power from the board somewhere over to the BlueSCSI so power gets supplied to the BlueSCSI on wake up instead of hard drive spin up? I think that would fix it but I am not sure where the best place would be on the board to get the 5V from.

Right I saw what I could from the photo. My guess is that would be the same as my setup.

No luck here with a 10nf cap :( I noticed though a lot of the time after waking from sleep the BlueSCSI powers up AND the activity LED on on the main board flashes as well as the activity led on the pi pico once or twice and then it freezes. Heres the cap I tacked on to try it:

That’s sounds the same as ours then. Only difference is my power is supplied through the scsi cable

Thanks, I edited the last reply to you. Was wondering how you went about direct power to your BlueSCSI... did you tap directly into the battery? you have constant power to it even when you shut down?

Awesome thanks. I will put a .01uf cap on it and see how it goes.

Anyone know off hand which pins here are SEL and GND?

    BlueSCSI on Macintosh Portable

Ahh ok, that confirms why it is working for you. Are you tapped in directly to the battery?

Adding it to the 34pin to 50pin adapter would probably be best. Need to find a schematic.

ok I can try. I need to know which pin to add the cap (select pin) and find a gnd pin to connect to. This is the one I have: https://androda.work/product/bluescsi-v2-desktop/
