    "Spicy O'clock" project has started

Perfect. Thank you very much for that information! I actually thought about asking them to do that too because they are based in China and have that ability, but thank you for taking that proactive step. Pure copper will offer definite cooling benefits over aluminum, and a 45mm width with a...

    "Spicy O'clock" project has started

@alxlab What's the best way to buy one of your heatsink clips, for people totally brain-dead to 3D printing? :) By the way, I found this 45mm heatsink on Mouser that spans the whole width of the 68040, but sadly it is a whopping 22mm tall, which means you cannot put a 40x10mm fan on top, and...

Display graphic FULL SCREEN on Mac SE?

Thank you for the link! That would seem to be a very nice solution for my SE or SE/30 machines; but if indeed it only works on System 6 or lower, then it wouldn't work on my LC575 Mystic, as that requires System 7.1 as its minimum OS version.

Apple IIe Card in Color Classic MYSTIC [Part 1]

Although I've been a Mac fan since 1984, I'm still new to the Apple II. But my recent purchase of an Apple IIe Card & Y-cable for my Macintosh Color Classic Mystic has been a fun learning experience. I made this video showing how to recap the card and to provide a general overview of the...

    Einstein, the NewtonOS Emulator

Speaking of 2006, my Newton 2100 was in the car with me when our family had our first major car accident here in Japan. The Newton was in a bag next to me in the back seat. A nut ran a stop sign, slammed into us on the driver's door side (perpendicular to us) where my wife was driving, forcing...

    Snooper serial loopback plug

I wasn't chastising either of you. I was chastising myself for extending that topic. :-) But if you find a way to extract the PICT files from the Snooper 2.0 app, please send me a PM! Makes no sense to me why opening the PICT resource is crashing every Mac emulator I've tried. Not just...

    Snooper serial loopback plug

A bit off topic in terms of what this thread is about, but your post inspired me to try extracting all the cool logic board images the PICT resource of the Snooper 2.0 app using ResEdit & Resourcerer, but double-clicking and/or browsing the PICT resource instantly crashes both Basilisk II and...

    Apple IIe Card: Q&A

I don't have access to my CC right now. But it appears the emulator isn't working with .dsk images I create in CiderPress for Windoze (via WINE), as I show clearly in this short video (no sound)...

    Apple IIe Card: Q&A

How? I can't get that feature to work... So I need to copy/paste the following line in the MacOS Terminal and simply hit RETURN? ./iconv 1047_Apple_II_High_Speed_SCSI_Card_Utilities.po 1047_Apple_II_High_Speed_SCSI_Card_Utilities.DSK

Most of Macintosh 128K's logic board was almost an ASIC!

More specifically, here's the exact excerpt from the link you provided... Unfortunately there were ‘low level’ problems with the design and the part never worked properly before the project was dropped as being too expensive and risky. There appears to be a huge disconnect between Andy's...

Most of Macintosh 128K's logic board was almost an ASIC!

Absolutely impossible to know. Andy Hertzfeld MIGHT know, but even though Andy was close to Jobs, it wasn't THAT close. It's unfortunate Burrell Smith suffers (suffered?) from schizophrenia, as he would be the man to ask that question. Steve was never driven by cost, so I cannot speculate...

    Apple IIe Card: Q&A

When the image is mounted by a FloppyEMU or BlueSCSI or MacSD (either as a Composite or hacked into a BlueSCSI-compatible form that will work as a regular drive image), the images are visible on the Macintosh Desktop initially, then vanish when you launch IIe Setup (which is normal), then I see...

    Apple IIe Card: Q&A

As I said, you would need to design a custom bracket (to be 3D printed) in order to mount the LC575's drive at the proper height inside the Color Classic in order to use it. It would then be usable, of course. I am not a 3D designer. I lack the skills to make such a bracket. Therefore, I...

    Apple IIe Card: Q&A

No because the physical height of the two drives is not the same. The one in the LC575 is the type with black plastic drive door, one would need to have a custom made mounting bracket in order to get that type to sit at the right height in the drive slot of the Color Classic.

Most of Macintosh 128K's logic board was almost an ASIC!

While digging up info on the LSI LOGIC chip used on the Apple IIe Card, I came across a book about LSI which provided some very interest historical info I had never read anywhere else. Amazing what could have been! One day Doug came in with a copy of EE Times. It had a photo of Steve Jobs and...

    Apple IIe Card: Q&A

Well, I was hoping to start filming again this evening, but I ended up spending another several hours testing instead. Here are my new findings, which again break new ground as these details haven't been reported anywhere else... 1. I previously found that the older version 2.2.1 of the IIe...

    Apple IIe Card: Q&A

After discovering that ImageConverter doesn't work on my 800K *.po image, I broke down, went to the Dark Side, and installed WINE so I could give CiderPress a try. I converted it to DiskCopy 4.2, named it "Dazzle.img" and then double-clicked that in Basilisk II, but nothing happens. Not sure if...

    Apple IIe Card: Q&A

Exactly! :) But I do wish to humbly thank Eric for the suggestion, as that app can help folks who prefer Windoze. (And yes, that's my deliberate and preferred spelling.) Sadly, it seems that ImageConverter doesn't work to convert .po files because it cannot even recognize/see them! Odd...

    Apple IIe Card: Q&A

Thank you for the tip, Eric! It's interesting to see that CiderPress is a Windows-only app. We have some Windows machines at the office, but I am one of those rare Mac users who never purchased even a single Windows computer through the years. Yep, that's right... From my first use of the Mac...

    Apple IIe Card: Q&A

Kay Koba and I were speaking last night. After I mentioned to him that 2.2.1 of the IIe Startup app resolved the problem, he reminded me of some subtle differences between the built-in floppy drive of the LC575 versus the Color Classic (CC). So even though I am still using the LC575...
