    Androda's Finds

Not bad. The FDHD mechanism from the Classic will work in one of the Pluses, as an 800K drive. Was able to verify that my Plus worked fine with one that I'd purchased for my Centris 650. Same machine that @tafkar was selling as a parts computer on 68kMLA earlier this month.

What I've received as of late...

Don't worry, not going to post the five pages of conquests that I've listed over at 68kMLA. Mainly going to list what I've received since late 2021, after I decided to make my //e useable again. Going back to November of last year: First conquest was a disk ][ for $35 from eBay seller...

    The Allentown Haul

Looks to be an older Pentium MMX based generic PC. Case is familiar. Father had one in the late '90s-early 2000s. Enlight branded case. His had an ASUS board running a Pentium 233MMX chip. Wasn't an awful machine. Much better than what replaced it (a Compaq Presario 7478 - aka a Crapaq)...

    Post your desk!

A bit early for Throwback Thursday, but, here's a really poor scan of a Kodachrome slide taken of my room at our old house in 1991... Computer was one of the Apple IIgs "Stealth GS" upgrade kit machines with ADB mouse, Apple 3.5 Drive, disk ][ drive, monitor ///, numeric keypad //e, CH...

How do you do the vintage feeling for the daily tasks?

Right now, the only vintage items I use with my MBP are my home audio components and speakers... The buit-in keyboard is decent enough, and the Micro$oft mouse works well. So, 1988-92 vintage Sony receiver and CD player, and a pair of 1985 vintage Infinity speakers. They are connected to the...

Does the SE Astec PSU have a voltage adjustment?

Another option would be to get another Sony CR-44 and recap it... I got lucky with my SE, in that it had the Sony supply in it. Saw a few CR-44 power supplies on the 'bay...

Macintosh SE BlueSCSI mount/adapter for external access?

Draw a chain icon on the socket for the extender. *boom* done. ;-)

    Post your desk!

Not shown: //e and Mac IIci. No room for them. Cables between the Centris/Quadra 650 (Centris 650, rebadged as a Quadra - have the correct processor, ready to go into the computer, tho) and the G3 are video cables, plus power and the SCSI cable for the CD-R drive I used to install 7.5.3 on...

Mac Plus stuck on "Welcome to Macintosh"

I assume it boots up fine from a floppy? How about a real hard drive? If it does, then it's possible that the early Plus boards are incompatible with the BlueSCSI for some reason. Which would be good to know, since I'm pretty sure that the Plus I'm getting today from tafkar over at 68kMLA is...

    Mac Plus in crochet

Looks cool. Make it lifesize and with an open bottom, then it'd be a nice cover for an actual compact Mac.

Retro & Vintage component suppliers list

RE-PC, based in the Seattle, WA area... Originally known as PC FIXX, then renamed RE-PC in 1994. Have bought many parts and machines from them over the years. http://www.repc.com/index.html Two locations. The original Seattle location near Safeco Field, and the location in Tukwila (near the...

Macintosh SE BlueSCSI mount/adapter for external access?

That would work. Mount it above or below the AUI port on the card's port flange.

    Adding a CRT toggle switch

Another option is one of the LC/Performa 4xx series Macs... Uses less energy than the IIci, and should be adequate enough for BBS duty. One of those with the 12" Macintosh RGB display isn't much bigger than an SE or a Classic... An LCIII with FPU would be somewhat equivalent to the IIci...

Macintosh SE BlueSCSI mount/adapter for external access?

Have you considerd modifying the security slot? That way, if you decide to have an ethernet card installed, you can still access the SD cards externally?

    Member Bio: John (Volvo242GT)

A lot of you probably know me from 68kMLA and the old ThinkClassic.org forums... I'm John, from Duvall, Washington, in the USA. Been involved with computers since the age of 7, when I used a TI99/4A in Kindergarten. Graduated to Apple //e machines when I entered 1st grade. Then, in 1985...
