Low-cost 3 MB RAM card for Macintosh Classic

Oooh. So that would attach to a generic 44-pin header though, right?

Low-cost 3 MB RAM card for Macintosh Classic

@Zane Kaminski what *is* the part number for the original connector? I've been unable to source it at all!

    Apple Custom ASICs

Something i've been working on, is a list of all the Apple Custom ASIC's, where they're used, and also the pinouts of the chips in question. I've started with the Compact Macs so far, but i'll be expanding this over time. If anyone has access to internal Apple datasheets for any of these parts...

Restoration: Macintosh SE with Water Damage

I always get consistently good results from Retrobriting this way - I just wish i had some spare Apple badges! Also for the chassis and metal parts - i found leaving them in my ultrasonic bath at 70*c for an hour, then hitting them with a 15 minute full sweep of ultrasonic cleaning made it look...

    Too many categories

The way i see it, the forum is only 12 days old, officially. Yes, there are some empty categories so far, but give it time :)

My PowerMac 7100/80 AV Recap Project

That's not even the electrolyte, that's the solder mask that's become black because of the electrolyte, it's seeped underneath and eaten it from beneath.

Favorite music style when cooking and when eating/drinking?

I have that on a lot while i work....or cook. Rarely have anything on while eating though, my wife & i prefer to chat :)

    Maxell fun!

Yep its missing the BBU and the SCC looks toast. I can send you a spare BBU, but the SCC you can buy new. It may also require you to get a Reloaded SE board, if the trace and pad damage is as severe as i think it is.

    Power Macintosh G4 - 733

I'm imagining you opening up a trench coat and going "pssst, you wanna zip drive? It's totally legit, promise..." 🤣

    Sonnet Crescendo G4-400MHz

Oh it's more than likely that it's crispy concrete by now, but sonnet make their heatsink screws out of alloy cheese -_-

    Unstable Mac SE

Thinking about it, the BBU does have issues wth two chip 1MB SIMM's - i seem to recall i knew why, but i can't place the reason why...

    Power Macintosh G4 - 733

I've seen a few heatsinks like this - mostly on the DA and Quicksilver models. I can take more detailed pics later this weekend, as it is though, i've got a buggered wrist that's not making things easy! The countertops are a lie - veneer over chipboard ;)

    Power Macintosh G4 - 733

Excuse the sink full of washing up! This arrived a week ago but I've not even had a chance to unbox it! I'd like to get a dual cpu upgrade for this, or should I install my Sonnet Encore ST/1800 that I scored off @Bolle a few months ago? I do also have a Radeon 9600XT from a G5, and a Geforce...

    Finally, a nice Quadra 840AV

Check the startup circuit in order: RED, YELLOW, ORANGE, BLUE, DARK GREEN, LUMINOUS GREEN have you got continuity and the correct resistances? BTW U12 looks suspect to me. The full part number is 343S0120 - it's a 5v Regulator IC made by Sony. Available from Exshine and UTSource.

    Sonnet Crescendo G4-400MHz

Bought for a bargain, from US eBay - sold as not working - seller stated it wouldn't boot into the OS, or froze. I have an inkling that it's either the correct extension not being loaded, or there's an issue with the cache. The cache sits on the rear of the card and it looks like a QFP that's...

    Soldering temperature

Depends on the solder and the gauge of it - i use Kester 0.4mm 63/37 and 350 to 360 degrees is fine, although if a chunky ground plane is involved, then i just set the station to YES.
