    Recommended Oscilloscope for retro computers?

I've had decent enough luck with my OWON SDS1104 - the lower end version is quite cheap for basic stuff: https://www.owontechnology.eu/product/1365126/owon-sds1022-20mhz-2-channel-digital-oscilloscope

This datsheet might help - start by probing the address lines and see if there's any wierdness :)

    512ke RAM upgrade woes

https://wiki.preterhuman.net/Mac%27s-a-Million#/media/File:8CEBC8C8-E6D4-4C86.jpeg might be a good starting point, visually - looks like if it's populated the jumper at JB1 needs to be OPEN rather than closed?

    Any thoughts on my SE/30

Hi @cannfoddr ! This looks suspiciously like a video RAM failure - 1/2 the screen frame isn't being drawn - i'd recommend desoldering the chips at UB10 and UB11 - those are the 41264 DRAM's for the video system. I'd also check UF8 - the 74LS166.

    Too many categories

Hi jcs! Thank you for your feedback :) The layout for this so far isn't 100% fixed and can be tweaked. The rationale for the category setup as it stands, is that we wanted to break things down in a 'by system' so if you wanted to network your mac plus, it'd go in the compact mac category...

    Downvoting posts

It looks like Xenforo theoretically supports this - but downvote buttons can be abused. I think once we're better established, mods should look at the cases individually and suggest to the OP of the thread/post that they might want to change what they posted - users have the ability to edit all...

    Material Lost to Time

Personally, i think if it can be recovered, it should definitely be reposted to make it easier to find/search - part of our MO here is to make things available for everyone, and not just 'shut down' and lose all content.

    5v FPM DIMM's!

https://www.utsource.net/itm/p/11213515.html 84cents each, but you'd need a buffer and a voltage regulator to step down from 5v to 3.3v Perhaps the 74LVT162244 as the buffer? Each chip is 8MB (64Mbit) in size, 8 chips needed for the full 64-bit data bus, which would also give you 64MB...

    5v FPM DIMM's!

For DIMM's, would it not be best to use something like these: https://www.utsource.net/itm/p/11652925.html 1K refresh, 50ns 1Mx16 DRAM chips for $1.51 in 100 or more... And new, too. I've always had good luck with the DRAM chips from utsource. Always arrived in oem packaging, too.

    5v FPM DIMM's!

Well, I was thinking of using regular dram chips that are available in quantity, not necessarily sdram or sram.

    $30 Box of Random Electronics

Ooooh handspring! I remember, my first paycheque from Blockbuster went on one of those and a 20 inch pizza. I carried it around for about 6 months, but then i realised i never really did anything with it, other than constantly put it on charge :D
