My MacSD Upgrade for the Colour Classic [and Stereo Mod]

For the sake of clarity, it is important to note that the TDA7052A (click for data sheet) is a dedicated audio amplifier IC, whereas the LM3080N is a special kind of op-amp called an Operational Transconductance Amplifier, which is used as a voltage-controlled current source. So if indeed, the...

Another dual PDS Adapter for SE/30? 🤔 (PDS only, no cache connector)

Here is why plugging a cache card into a PDS slot is a bad idea… The entire story is in my old thread… https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/se-30-pds-adapter-epic-blunder.32138/

Another dual PDS Adapter for SE/30? 🤔 (PDS only, no cache connector)

@retr01 was the one who first brought it to my attention. I had not seen it before. And just to be clear (for those who don't like to read the entire Google translation of the product page, this is a PDS splitter. You get 2 PDS slots instead of one. The TS Adapter and the TS Adapter clone...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Here are more stats from just now, as pertaining to the Speedy Bends video... Lost 1 subscriber. Lower than normal performance and view time. Lower number of views than normal. I kind of expected that, but I still wanted to try to do some shorter videos just to prove to the younger...

Another dual PDS Adapter for SE/30? 🤔 (PDS only, no cache connector)

Here's the rough Google Translation of that web page (except graphics, of course): https://www-marushin--web-com.translate.goog/org_dualpds.html?_x_tr_sch=http&_x_tr_sl=ja&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc Kay Koba has long told me that the market for vintage Mac stuff is quite large...

    LCII Sony Superdrive Issue

Glad to hear the transistor swap worked. Testing an NPN BJT transistor with a resistor on the "base" is important to protect the transistor from damage. Without a base resistor, the transistor can be damaged. That is not true of a MOSTFET though, since those are voltage controlled. BJT...

    "Spicy O'clock" project has started

I just finished watching. Very nice video. I wrote a comment under the video to explain that the LC575 board is very sensitive when it comes to overclocking. I'm curious if he tried stably overclocking beyond 45MHz (a) with the PPC card completely removed, or (b) with a different 040 CPU. I...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Thank you very much! Here are the latest YouTube Stats... "Your estimated revenue" doesn't exist because I don't allow Ads on my videos. Even at 5K subscribers, Ads wouldn't bring me anything but a few measly dollars per month, and that tiny sum wouldn't be worth my time needed to report...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

You know you're getting successful on YouTube when foreign language SPAM hits seconds or minutes after a video debut... You'd think that they'd use German names instead of Vladimir and Martinez. Anyway, as you can see, I like to have fun with the spammers before I delete them.

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

I just released a video review of the Speedy Bends, axial component lead forming tools. I also updated my BOM with the exact Speedy Bend tool and slot number you need for every passive component which can use the tools! While made of plastic, these are quality tools which surprisingly are NOT...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

I've been exchanging PM's with a former SuperMac engineer. He mentioned to me today that the ProdigySE could support 8MB, thanks to its 68851 PMMU chip, which is shown in the following control panel... So merely, connecting address lines alone is not something that would enable more than 4MB...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Meaning, if you do one of those releases per month and add 2 months for added development work on the accelerator, we should be able to see the WarpSE debut around March 2023. 🤞🤞🤞

Macintosh SE Sad Mac: Bad RAM chip identification possible?

It might be possible to find. It's just not high priority for me right now since I have other good and working 1MB SIMMs. But I can come back to this at anytime, get a new chip and see if that works. Pretty amazing animated GIF you made there! That must have taken some serious time to...

Macintosh SE Sad Mac: Bad RAM chip identification possible?

Thank you very much! I will do that test when I have time, but for now, I humbly wish to thank you for educating me on the proper way to diagnose 30-pin RAM SIMMs down to the chip level. Amazing!

Macintosh SE Sad Mac: Bad RAM chip identification possible?

I confirmed that pins 1 & 25 are connected to each other on all 8 chips. I then tested between SIMM pad 23 and pin 1 of each chip and found that only the second IC from the right, as shown below, is connected to pad 23.

Macintosh SE Sad Mac: Bad RAM chip identification possible?

@YMK I apologize. I was busy and hadn't looked at the LC321000-10 datasheet (SMD chip version) as I should have. But extracting the relevant chip diagram from the correct SMD version datasheet shows this... Din = pin 1 Dout = pin 25 So the 2 pieces of advice you gave me were: You should...
