SE/30 AB making a clicking sound

Took a while, but found the short (pins 63/64 of the ROM SIMM) once fixed, the ticking stopped. Now on to the next issue; the video output . . . C

SE/30 AB making a clicking sound

So given that the AB powers the vanilla SE LB, that means the short has to be on the SE/30 board (since connecting it causes the clicks). Guess I'm going to have to tone out the voltage rails, looking for continuity to the ground plane (?). Thanks, C

SE/30 AB making a clicking sound

OK. So I've been following the rebuild of Branchus Creations on YouTube, as Bruce repaired a battery bomb SE/30 and decided to give repairing mine a go. The damage to my board was confined to the space around the battery was once upon a time, and I think I've managed to fix all tha PCB traces...

Copper fingers on the SE/30 board?

Yes, those are the ones. The test points makes sense given the number of them produced, and needing to be tested before distribution. I noticed they were missing on the Reloaded boards I had made. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity! C

Copper fingers on the SE/30 board?

Hello. Just a question out of pure curiosity, but does anyone know what the copper 'fingers' on the SE/30 logic board (at location 1 L to I) are for? Or what they connect to? I'm thinking test points of some type, but that's just a WAG. Thanks, C

    Color Classic analog board trouble

Which part did you end up going with? I have two ABs I'm looking to refresh.

    Color classic died :(

Thanks. I have a donor board I can remove RAM from and transfer over. I'll give it a go this weekend.

    Color classic died :(

So I turned on my Color Classic today, and got a black screen and a sad mac sound (no error code on the screen). I shut it down right away, and tried to restart it; nothing. No sad mac sound, no error code, nada. I put another LB into the chassis, and the new board boots, so I don't think the...

Color Classic logic board powers on from keyboard then nothing...

I had a system that behaved like you're describing. I recapped the analog board and reflowed any questionable solder joints (on the neck board too). The whole thing started up no problem after that.

Anyone have spare CUDA/EGRET chips for sale?

Thanks for the replies. I don't know what other boards use the same chips, or if the '0851 kind work in my boards (I'll check). I have found a few pictures of the LC550 board with 341S0788 EGRET chips on them which makes me wonder about backward compatibility / universal donor ability? I have...

Got one of these LBs on my bench too; slooowly restoring it.

Help with gone wrong recapping attempt.

Preheating a board before using hot air is pretty much a must in my experience, or there's a real risk of the PCB warping - or maybe I'm just using to much heat.

Help with gone wrong recapping attempt.

When it comes to removing caps from a board, I've settled on the dual soldering iron way. Heating both contact points and flipping the cap away has always left clean pads (as long as there's minimal corrosion) for me.

Help with gone wrong recapping attempt.

Right? Why would you recap with the cause of the problem!?! I've seen more than a few LB advertised as 'recapped' with pictures of electrolytics in place. Good to know JB weld works just as well, as I have Color Classic II board on my bench that may need pad replacement - will know once I clean...

Anyone have spare CUDA/EGRET chips for sale?

I need the 341s0417 for a LC550 board and the 341s0788 for a LC575. Hopefully I can bring both back to life.

Anyone have spare CUDA/EGRET chips for sale?

Hello, I'm looking for two Apple chips. I'm looking for both a 341s0417 and a 341s0788 for a pair of battery bombed Macs I'm in the process of repairing. Does anyone one have chip they're willing to part with? I really wish Apple would release the specs/code for their specialty ICs.
