    Do Rifa caps have polarity?

I'm recapping a 128k analog board so I bought the 3 extra caps from Console5. The film cap at C38 is burnt so I figured I'd replace that and C33 and C37 too.

unknown part on 128k analog board?

I glued it back together and although it's bit brittle, it should hold. You only need to adjust it once… I hope.

unknown part on 128k analog board?

I slid the plastic out of the coil and it's still intact and the pot still spins inside. So I think I'm gonna try and glue it back together with some T-8000. It has a super fine nozzle so I think I can make it work. The burnt plastic is really brittle though so I have to be really careful. I'll...

unknown part on 128k analog board?

I wonder if the internals could be extracted and a new plastic housing could be 3D printed? I might try that since it's junk now anyway. I unfortunately don't have a donor board to extract another inductor from. I think the main problem with that is 3D printed items are not heat resistant at...

unknown part on 128k analog board?

Can anyone point me to the correct part on Digikey or Mouser or even Console5 for this part at L2 on a 128k Analog board? It's right next to a power plug that fried and melted this one.

Maxintosh II What is this resistor for?

Thanks David, I guess since I don't plan on using the modem I can just leave as is.

Maxintosh II What is this resistor for?

A PAL board? I dunno. You mean like PAL or NTSC? I do know it's a rev A board that has the PMMU upgrade. I bought from a fellow 68ker in 2018. It's been in a display cabinet since then. I just started restoring all my vintage Macs (recapping, BlueSCSIs, retrobriting, floppy servicing, etc.) and...

Maxintosh II What is this resistor for?

I have a Mac II with an upgraded PMMU and 20MBs of RAM. I pulled it out of my display cabinet to replace the soldered on batteries with a battery holder and noticed a resistor soldered in the J2 position. Does anyone know what that's for? Here's some pics:

Macintosh IIci - No chime or video after recapping. Any ideas?

I'm having the exact same problem. I have 2 LCIIs I'm working on. One is not recapped and boots fine, the other one was leaking so I didn't try to boot it before recapping. After cleaning the board and recapping and cleaning again, I get no chime and black screen. The fan runs and I can hear the...

Macintosh Plus - Trouble after doing SCSI Term Diode Mod

I did the mod on both my Pluses and they both work fine with the SillyTinySCSI on the external plug. I did use the 50v diodes though.

Macintosh Plus - Trouble after doing SCSI Term Diode Mod

The reason I ask is because maybe the overpowered diode skowly burned something out. I don't know enough about electronic components to know if the 1000v vs the 50v could have harmed something but when you mod something and then shortly after that something goes wrong, it's rarely a coincidence.

Macintosh Plus - Trouble after doing SCSI Term Diode Mod

I was gonna do this mod on my two Pluses so I could leave my SillyTinySCSI mounted on the back with no external power, but now I think I'm gonna wait until you can post what the problem was. I just recapped the analog boards and serviced the floppy drives and they're working beautifully. I don't...
