    Oel's M396F-Replika build

I think mostly because it exists in kit form, looks cool, has negative voltage rails should they ever matter, and slots in nicely so I don't have five million more dangly things falling everywhere. Bonus points for being sold by a real human and not generic amazon seller...

    Oel's M396F-Replika build

So it's early 2025 and there I was minding my own business when this guy who goes by the name of max1zzz shows up. He motions me closer and peels the top of his jacket back a bit, lifting a thin red rectangular object out a little. Just enough to get a peek at it. Then in a low shifty voice he...

    68kmla MIA

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't MLA have an IRC server as well? Haven't been on it for about a decade but I'm seeing references to it as late as 2025. Of course IRC being plain text VS. Discord's pictures, video, voice chat, screen sharing/etc. The latter being a more common platform for...

Slot-loading iMac G3 dual PCI breakout development

Don't have anything important to add, just some side notes. Some 1999 machines had DVD decoder(? It's been a long time, fuzzy memory) plugged in on the battery-side, but not sure about the one you circled. Some pictures in Apple's service manual show a similar header along side the Down...

    LC575 computer killed LC520 motherboard! 😭

Just for entertainment purposes why not see what if anything comes out of the slot of the LC575's chassis harness? Using some contact cleaner, insert and remove a couple times a piece of thin cardboard with a layer of paper. A person could fold the paper over itself a few times and get the same...

    LC 630 and BlueSCSI

Back in the day I added an extra connector to the ribbon of my 6500. It worked just fine with the HDD mounted upside down in the top of the case. The key is just the usual SCSI termination voodoo. I've noticed my Performa 631CD board on a 6500 harness can be finicky with a BlueSCSI v1 involved...

PowerMac G4 Opening Lever Creaking - Can It Be Silenced?

    WD-40 isn't a lubricant. 3M silicone grease, and you won't need much.

    Cracked Hinge on Mac Portable

Use the technology of the sanding block. You want to mate these two surfaces into each other, so use them together. Either use the sandpaper between them or use an abrasive lapping compound between them.. or both. In this case I would imagine the sandpaper to be enough, but if you really want to...

    Cracked Hinge on Mac Portable

I've never used the real tool, though I understand that different wire shapes are available. I've just been pushing bits of wire in with my Weller Portasol when I need to fix something. Once I start tackling the cracks in my Firebird's factory body kit I intend to buy and try out a hot stapler...

    Cracked Hinge on Mac Portable

You guys keep talking about drilling holes with impossibly thin and long drills, but may I ask why we aren't stitching the plastic by melting the structural wires into it with, say, a dedicated hot stapler or even just a meaty soldering iron pressing a wire in? I've had luck using my butane...

Comparing stock fan vs. Noctua in an SE/30 with temperature data

I thought they had the Redux line which were just the fan in a box at a reduced price? And if I recall they are light and dark grey plastic even.

    Quadra 630 Boards and Misc

I used to have a Performa 580CD with two RAM slots which I was running at 40MHz. I forget what guide was used but I don't recall having any issues following whatever instructions and bumping the speed up. The pictures in the Schrier speedup instructions look mighty familiar. My understanding was...

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

Yeah, lack of the chassis harness is the issue, I've been tempted to solder some ribbons to the board but I'd still rather not resort to that. I have harnesses(but no cases) for my LC630 and PM6500 at least, so it's not the highest of priorities. Anyway, keep up the good work. (y)

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

If it makes you feel any better, what you have done here is super cool and I would be interested in testing it out if my LC575 existed as more than a board only. I don't have a chassis harness or the other bits 'n bobs for it, nor a PPC upgrade. Perhaps some day I will get the needed parts to...
