SE/30 noise in video - where do I look next?

It could also be a result of the 4 SMD capacitors around the analog video section on the logic board which havent been replaced yet.. It would be interesting to know which power supply, the ASTEC seems to have more trouble than the Sony. But this results in wavy video swinging back and forth...

More recent gamers might be able to comment. But I've never known it to be common on any joysticks I've ever used. I also prefer the flat dust cover that came with yours over the one placed on there. Try both and see which one feels better to you.

Theres a rubber sleeve which comes with this product ( I'm not seeing it in your package though ) that fits over the shaft to prevent the cover from flapping up and down as you use it. You have the option to install fhe flat dust cover in place of the domed one original already there. I dont...

I think i'm wrong about this. It seems that the rubber washer is to prevent the dome from moving up and down.

Yes shaft is a bit short for larger hands. I suspect the flat round piece would help. It is primarly used for dust protection

No sorry. I wasn't clear in my response. I was talking about the Ultimate 64. Im still using an original Wico Command Control joystick which has leaf style switches, its an original from the 80s. I think the round flat piece is a substitute/alternative to the piece thats already on there, like...

Here is a photo of mine during, lots of errors on the screen but this is normal due to lack of testing harness and missing basic rom. I went for the original PAL modulator for use on my mid 80s Sanyo CRT TVs.

That looks like an interesting project. The Ultimate 64 is a great product, I think I'd have purchased one by now had I not already had 3 units already.

SE/30 noise in video - where do I look next?

This is likely a bad cap on the analog board based on your post. There is a capacitor adjacent to the flyback which has likely started to fail and is leaking. It might not be obvious from the component side but will be clearly visible after removing it or from the solder side where the...

Anyone tried installing LC575 speaker in Color Classic?

Apple doesn't make speakers. They sourced them from different manufacturers such as regal. My se/30 has a regal general purpose speaker and you can still find replacements that are made today by companies like Visaton. You just have to match the specs such as impedence, dimensions, make sure the...

Anyone tried installing LC575 speaker in Color Classic?

The speakers shouldnt interfere with the drive or CRT deflection beam, these are magnetically shielded especially in compact designs.

It handles most track loaders but not all, some demos won't work on a 1571. Edge of Disgrace is one of the demos I tried which works fine on my c64+1541 combo.

For compatibility its not so great, so most prefer the 1541 over the 1571 in c64 mode. We didn't get a 1541 until a year or two after we purchased a c64. So we put up with tape loading as we did ( in Australia and the U.K ) which wasn't too bad in the later 80s with all the nice loaders...

I built a SixtyClone recently with mostly pulled original chips. Those are fun to build.

PSU for SE & SE/30 trips breaker on 240VAC?

I'm the one with this problem, thanks to JDW for relaying my question from YT. To further isolate the fault, I disconnected the power supply board from the mains input and removed it, while leaving the IEC inlet, line filter choke, and power switch intact within the chassis with breaker still...
