WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Thanks James for all the sleuthng on Scsi Director Pro 4.0! I am back in action again as my job transition is settled down. Just reflashed the latest e firmware and tested a few things. Testing with Zip 100 scsi drive with Scsi Director 3.1 drivers gives me 800KB Max Read and 804 KB Max...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

I have fast-scc loaded and booting from a Scsi Director 3.1 driver on the Zip 100 cartridge running 7.1.1 Pro pretty much base install. Using Scsi Director Pro 4.0 application for tests it passed. The Epson Iomega zip 100 Scsi with Fuji Zip 100meg cart gave the following: Sequential 6.27...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Correct sharing of floppy drives is NOT supported. Neither was floppy images mounted to the desktop via disk copy. Yeah it would have been a neat option!

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Was able to flash them all and see how things worked with System 7.1.1pro running on my Zip 100scsi carts like always... SlowSCC - Doesn't work for me. It will time out the domain search and then display the control panel and no items in the appletalk list. FastSCC - works well - and it may...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

flashing 0.7c now... will see shortly what is what. Here's hoping. Initial boot after flash with 0.7c - Appletalk WORKS! The sound seems good in the control panel too! 800k floppy format and file copy of 700+ k works fine. will update this as I do other tests...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

That is correct. When back in no acceleration mode everything works just fine again. I don’t know why the gating is kicking in during LocalTalk access though. Maybe it is because the SCC IS NOT in standard serial port mode but they are put into the special LocalTalk mode and speed setup...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

ACK! 0.7b Works, but it takes a LONG time for the shares to populate and it times out on any login attempt. Getting closer but still no cigar. yet. Sound works great though! 800k format and copy of 700k file works properly! Petar Puskarich

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Sounds like a plan! I can then torture the clocks with playing a long sound resource over LocalTalk. That should be a good test for this at least.

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

I'm going to bed for a bit. Good testing of things tonight though. My last question then.... Which option is supposed to clean up the sound? Even using the sound control panel with the options above and a few others I tried I would get "scratchy" sound output from the system sounds in the...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Just flashed my WarpSE to 0.7a and No Localtalk shares still. Hit the debug button and did the SM for $F00FFC - same as previous but the clock gating is disabled, so slowdown affects only RAM/ROM access speed/latency, not CPU speed Couldn't do ES but rather did G Finder since I guess...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

I will most likely as well tomorrow try out the dual mode MacRecorder setup to see how that goes with the serial ports too. I've been wanting to try the Stereo MacRecorder setup anyway since finally receiving a second unit recently. My Snooper card and box and software is now located and it...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

@JDW For some of the weirdness I've been seeing is what I have finally isolated down to the Scsi Director Pro 4.0 drivers. I happened to test my same zip100 cart based 7.1.1.1Pro that I've been running with WarpSE testing today and noticed the address errors and some just weird stalls go...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Tested the new H. Things are okay, but I still get the address error on shutdown or restart and LocalTalk still not working. I reflashed "fastscsi" back to the board and Localtalk works again. Address error on shutdown and restart is still common. I am going to remove some of the stuffit...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Yes I’m very familiar with the naming issues since I’ve worked so much with netatalk and GlobalTalk on myriads of machines over the last two years and previously. In this specific case I’m talking about using the actual Apple LocalTalk serial port connectors to connect to the three wire system...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

I will test with 6a in a little bit and see if Appletalk is broken or working. I can go back but I believe the last time I saw AppleTalk working was with "Fastscsi" build. so far I have tried all the builds except for 6a because I didn't get that far with thinking b was the stable one working...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

I saw the address error in OS 7.1 which is what I am running for all the test boots so far, I saw it sporadically on fastscsi as well as on the couple of times I got D to boot as well as f and e. I have NOT tried A yet I made it down to B where it sorta works then tried your other newer...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Booting with 7.1 and firmware F seems to be okay now on my machine with the dual external zip 100 scsi drives and no internal HD or internal termination. 4megs ram. SCSI drive validations with Apple HD SC Setup 7.3.5 seems to be just fine so banging on the SCSI buss seems to work. Localtalk...

that is correct it is the same during flashing and boot when it's the bad boot.

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Before bed finally. The latest E boots properly and seems nice and fast and the mouse even seems to be faster? At least it feels faster in responsiveness. BUT Finder gives and Address Error on shutdown or restart like several of the other firmware did. Also I have noticed that the address...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Well, Not sure if it matters but I have the internal SCSI HD removed entirely in my SE, and only running term power enabled and termination set on the external scsi buss side. Past that I'm running 4meg of 70ns 1meg sticks if that matters.... Yes checkerboard screen at startup and sometimes it...
