Stopped by today & had a great time. I got to play Q3A, Unreal, UT, tons of awesome C64 games and got to play with a floppy emu which I think I definitely need for my plus - much better than aging and expensive magnetic media. Picked up a cool cheap mechanical kb (blues) for my son & his iMac. He’s 4.5y/o so will love the cool rainbow colored key caps.
I had SO much nostalgia fueled fun on this little C64 box.
This was a cool box - the owner Kyle had modded the ram (increased from 8 to 32mb iirc?) On the onboard gpu of this Duron box and it absolutely slayed on UT. Neat box!
Playing around with a floppy emu (there were 3 or 4 of them on different boxes at the lab.
buncha really nice ppl and got to meet the organizer - he had a really cool pentium 3 box pushing a voodoo 3000 and slayed on all the aforementioned games. The box was a neat pink translucent plastic - screamed 1999. In addition he had a neat front facing speaker system that installed through the cdrom drive bays but forgot to snap a picture of that one.
Looks like the next one will be this fall. Funniest thing is that whoever posted on TD evidently was not there or was shy. I asked who posted to TD because that’s how I learned about the ABQ retro computer event and they all looked at me like tin..k.. what???
Anyhow had a fantastic time and can’t wait for the next one.
