Ludicrous notion of the day! Sorry, I just can't help myself.

Short story long, took a pic of my 1400c this morning and got to I wondering wondering how the Rudimentary Tablet next to it might work as a .TXT output display. First thought was stepper controlled by Raspberry Pi. Figured Apple II line output would make a good source for playtime I have no idea how to do.

That got me wondering about controlling the steppers directly from the Apple II to display its own output, albeit slowly and shake erase necessary for page down?

Maybe we should start a race to see if an Apple II guy or C64 guy might pull it off first?

Bonus points awarded for prototyping with stepper output translated back into NTSC/Pal raster.

OK, I'll vacate your forum with my tail between my legs now and stay back in my regularly scheduled insanity program. 🤪

I am sure someone did an Apple II program emulating the sketch, albeit rudimentary. On the Mac, it will look good in 1-bit with a C program.

Talking about spinning the knobs on the real thing with stepper motors here. Emulation's not the point at all. ;)

Getting the stepper output data back into the Apple II to draw it onscreen would be for bonus points. Stepper moves for its drum plotter were drawn on the TTL CRT display of my Gerber Signmaker Sprint for pre-viz back in the early days of CNC. That was Apple IIe based Gerber Digitizing Station era.

The only difference really would be that there isn't pen up capability on my handy little Travel Etch A Sketch.

edit: trying to keep myself out of this playground and stay back on my own turf.
