First of all I’m way in over my head on this repair, but I’m also stubborn so I would like to see it working again.
Bought a DuoDock II with non working power supply, no volts on the output. Opened it up and replaced the problem cap that all other posts refer to, as well as a bunch of other caps I had replacements for just in case. No change, still no volts on the output.
Handily I also have a second working power supply from a DuoDock Plus which I can use to trouble shoot. My problem however is I really lack the skills to know what is going on electrically.
What I have found out so far, is the power is going through the rectifier ok, coming out as 320v DC. If I follow the positive trace down to where it goes into a large resistor on the other side of this the power is fluctuating wildly, whereas on the working PS its rock solid at 425v. The resistor value matches the one on the working PS.
I just don’t know enough to figure out what’s going on, but if someone has the time I would appreciate any help to get this repaired again.
Also full disclosure, this repair is for a video on my youtube channel.
Johann.
