Hello!

How do you mount DSK images on real hardware? I transfer them via BlueSCSI Transfer Utility onto my mac. I am running System 7.0.1 on an SE/30. I never used a classic mac back in the day so this is all new to me.

The BlueSCSI Bootstrap disk image has some utilities in the Stuff -> Images -> System 7+ folder.

It took me forever to figure out how to mount the images I had (a couple games from Macintosh Garden). At first I tried DiskDup+ and couldn't get it to even acknowledge the existence of my image files. I then tried Disk Copy 4.2 - same it wouldn't see the image files. I then tried installing MountImage 1.2b2 control panel - same thing it couldn't see the disk image files.

Finally I tried Disk Copy 6.3.3 and it let me drag the DSK images onto its UI - and they mounted! And I was able to play the games after installing them. But why didn't it work with all the other methods I tried? Are there different kind of "DSK" images?

Only one of the Disk Copy versions has a Mount Image option. I think it's 6.3.3, not the 8 one. You load it then in its menu there is a Mount Image command. AFAIK, MountImage is for System 6.

Do the files have correct creator/type codes?
