Hello
I couldn't find a section directly relating to G3-based iMacs, so I hope this section is close enough!
I have an iMac G3 slot loader I picked up from a pawn shop for $50AUD in non-working condition.
Initially, it was giving a single "click" from the speakers on power on and no further action, which looking online seemed to be a dead PRAM battery.
After replacing the PRAM battery, there's now four clicks (last one faint) from the speakers. The speakers are rotted out, so for testing I put a scrap laptop speaker in it and it also makes the click noise, so I'm not sure if this is what everyone calls a beep on these, or if this is something different.
I have cleaned (with IPA) the memory slot and stick, swapped the installed 128MB stick with a 64MB PC100 stick, and disconnected the HDD (had someone else suggest that).
I've attached some photos of the unit and a video of it's current behaviour. There's no activity on the display at all, and after about 10 seconds of hitting the power button, you can press it again to hear the same clicks.
Looking online it seems hard to find anyone else with this four clicks issue I have.
If this forum isn't the right place for this, let me know where I should instead go
Cheers,
