I cracked open this LC III to start the recap process to find a repair/mod/bodge? Not sure what's going on here. Think it's safe to fire up once I've recapped and cleaned the board?
Hi Everyone, First time poster here. Just picked up an LC III in great condition and I'm working on setting it up now. I popped the cover off and was surprised to see some bodge wiring on the VGA chip on the motherboard. Has anyone seen anything like this before? I'm wondering if this is...
It's a early board, all the very early boards have that bodge on them
Not 100% sure on what it is doing but I suspect it is doing something to one of the clocks coming out of U22 as the later boards has the position for a 74xx00 in the same position as that deadbugged chip that is doing something with one of the clocks form U22
Neat! Thanks for the link YMK, and the additional insight everyone else. Hoping that everything will survive a trip through the ultrasonic. If not, at least I have some pictures to replicate where the wires were tacked.
