Hello! I've been searching for it, but I'm unable to find anyone who has a replacement Performa 6116CD internal chassis.

Years ago, I purchased the machine from eBay and it came from a seller who packaged it really well, but there's really nothing they could have done for the internal chassis. It's the part that holds the drives, power LED, and speaker. It is extremely brittle, like even more so than Macs typically are nowadays. Kind of reminds me of the brittle iMac CRT plastics that are crumbling. I actually broke it more while disassembling the machine last night by lightly pushing on a part of it that I wasn't even interacting with! I feel like a 3D printable recreation would be great, but I lack a 3D printer (and the skills to create the part, which I wouldn't mind learning). Before I try to reinvent the wheel, does anyone have any suggestions on a replacement? Thanks

I don't have that particular model/part, so recreating it will be difficult without precise measurements. Probably a lot of trial and error. It will also likely require a larger than standard 3D printer, maybe even paying for a service bureau to print it for you. I would suggest if you have someone with a small/med sized 3D printer and the capability, have them recreate it in 3 parts, test fit it all, then combine and have it printed as one piece. Or keep it in 3 parts and glue it together if you print it in ABS filament.

Maybe check with @wottle as he came across a lot of dirty machines, maybe he has a spare part.

@phunguss In regards to splitting the print up into smaller parts, that's what I was thinking too!

Also, I'll reach out to wottle, thanks for the suggestion.

However, it still sounds like I need to get to work with modeling a 3D represntation of the internal chassis, it'll be a fun learning experience and I think it would benefit anyone with that form factor of Performa/Centris/Quadra/Power Macintosh. I may end up getting a 3D printer because of this. 😅
