So, during VCFSW back in June, I eventually stepped away from my table to have a look around and came across something that I'd never seen before. In a bin full of random junk and Mac software at a table off in another building, I found what appeared to be an Apple-branded CD-R with data on it. I also found discs for Marathon 1 and 2 and Dark Forces, so yay! Anyway, the CD-R...

There was another person looking through the same bin who found another Apple-internal CD-R and we agreed to split them and see what was on them back at my table. Theirs had a bunch of notes and utilities and mine had an internal GM copy of Mac OS 7.6. Cut to now, I finally imaged the disk and uploaded it to Macintosh Garden (the other person should be imaging and uploading theirs as well at some point): Mac OS 7.6 Apple-Internal Gold Master.

On the whole, there's not much to write home about - it's just Mac OS 7.6 - and there don't appear to be any beta features or secrets tucked away on here. Curiously, there are actually some features missing; the "CD Extras", "Disk Images", and "America Online" directories are absent (but noted as being present on the eventual physical media for 7.6). What is neat is that whoever burned this CD-R copied the installer (and a few other directories) off of an internal system software file server and preserved a cool note about the GM and its pending release. Again, small potatoes, but I felt it worth preserving.

Also, if you want to dig into this image, it is not bootable. Like I said, whoever made this just copied some stuff off a file server into a directory on their local Mac and burned that to a CD-R. You'll need to boot to another volume first and then mount this ISO and run the installer.
