Macintosh portable M5126 Sad Mac at power on

My Backlit portable starts with a normal chime and after a few seconds I get the chimes of death with a sad mac error code
00000003
0000000F

The portable is fully recapped a few years ago, board was fully cleaned with pure IPA at the time. Power adapter is the original white one, also fully recapped. It has a rebuild battery wich Cyclon X cells like it was originally.

i used to start the portable once a month and let it run for about 1 hour but now it doesn‘t want to boot anymore. It takes about 5 seconds until the chimes of death so I think it completed most of it‘s power on self check.

i have exclused the hdd,gdd, keyboard, battery, power adapter: these are working fine in another machine.

The Sad Mac codes for the portable are not very helpfull, 00000003 isn’t mentioned. In Compact Macs this would point to a memory error.

Can anyone help ?

Hi @Nico!

Are you using a BlueSCSI or SCSI2SD in your Mac Portable as the HDD?

That particular error code is related to an illegal instruction code with SCSI or software. Have you tried holding the command and option keys down as the Portable boots up?

Another procedure you can try:

1. Start FWB Toolkit or Silverlining off the floppy disk.
2. Have the utility scan the bus for drives and mount the dead drive.
3. Install or update the driver.
