Excited to be here! I’m often active on Twitter as @aradiogurl, posting about my various restoration projects, repairs, and recent rescues. Fascinated by computers since I was a baby, loved watching people use computers in offices, on TV, etc. Mac user since someone first put a mouse in my hand and taught me to use a brand new IIci. Learned to program LOGO on Apple IIs during a summer camp and have fond memories of playing games and learning to program BASIC on a VIC-20.

While I learned and used computer as a child, it was complicated. We didn’t have a stable home computer with a printer until relatives gifted me a Mac Plus in the mid 90s. A year later we bought a Performa 6320CD and Stylewriter 2500, I’ve been hooked since. Started rescuing old PCs and game consoles from being trashed in the 90s, would clean them up and gift them to others who didn’t have a computer. I always believed that while these computers may be outdated, they were still fun to use, learn about, and play games on. Ended up studying computer engineering at college, then worked IT for a number of years. Currently work as a security software engineer.

Besides vintage computers, my other main hobbies are antique radio restoration and vintage cars. I mostly focus on 1930s era radios, but also own many from the 20s, 40s, and 50s. My current daily driver is a 1973 VW Westfalia Campmobile (aka vw bus with a popup top) that I rebuilt a few years ago, currently working to put my 1974 Mercedes 240d back on the road, I also have a 1987/88 Pontiac Tojan, 1962 Chevy Impala (my old college car and future restoration project), and a 1972 VW Beetle (project). During the time I’m not in my lab or garage, I’m often found working on my house, cooking, watching anime with my partner, and when my allergies allow it, gardening and hiking.

When I started collecting Macs I didn’t intend to own dozens, but they multiply. Somehow one Mac Plus is now six, one 512k is now three, one IIci is now four. It’s hard to pass up a cheap 68k Mac when you know that it’s going to end up in the trash or sent off to recyclers.
