A new PSU for the Quadra 630 series & derivatives….?
I did get me a poor looking performa 630 “in working condition” a few moths ago.
As I did test this machine for functionality and after it startsup, a smelly-stink became appearent very quickly.
So, searching for this odours cause brought me to the PSU.
The 630 works, but clearly needs new caps for the mainboard, aswell the PSU.
The PSU -PCB is soaked with the caps electrolite. Its material is from the “paper” sort. If you look at the picture its even got some real dark spots like it was almost burning.
Now I must clean it on the outside and place new parts, as a quick google tells me that these psu’s are not newly available.
Recapping possibly wont help as the pcb will vent out the odour every time it gets warm. And it not the smelly of the good kind.
As ive used a small 12V dc ATX psu before on my ITX-PC and besides the main cables i was wondering how this small connector should be wired in, and what it does do precisely? My guess its for switching the PSU on.

Anyone who can shine a light on this?
Someone must have done this before….

12V DC ATX as a replacement….
Thanks in advance!
Greetings, Chris.
