I put this on FB but thought I'd put it here too...

I picked this up the other day at RE-PC in Seattle. Power Mac G3/300 MT, 320MB RAM, 6MB VRAM, 20GB Quantum HD. 2 port USB card. Floppy, CD, Zip drive.

I added a 256MB DIMM (I had only one on hand, so 1 more on the way from eBay.)
Then I transplanted the G3/450 out of my old G3 DT and over-clocked it 1 step, now it's a G3/500:

with the RAM tests turned off it boots 9.1 in about 25-30 second.

after maxing the RAM, the next projects are, in no order:

1) to replace the internal 250MB Zip drive (I never used Zips) with an internal 2GB Jaz drive. I'll have to make a bezel, I think.

2) remove the spinning HD and install an internal BlueSCSI in the bottom bay with the SD slot in the bezel.

3) PCI video card.

4) re-cap.

should be a great bridge machine for getting software on the older macs.

Hello fellow Seattleite!

Coincidentally, I have a Desktop G3 300 I was thinking about just today. I found it on CL, the previous owner also picked it up from RE-PC. It came with 768MB of RAM, 6MB VRAM, DVD, and the AV IO card (which is the main reason I picked it up). I used it recently with a tape player to archive some family audio cassettes. I have a 350Mhz G3 CPU I'm planning to put in it and see if I can get it to go 400Mhz. Right now it's got a 120GB IDE HD with OS 9. I've got some IDE->SATA adapters and some SSDs I'm planning to try out Jaguar on. My family computer in high school was the 266 Desktop and I recall OS X being quite sluggish.

I also have an internal 2GB Jaz drive that I'm planning to add to it. Let me know what you come up with for a bezel, that's something I haven't figured out!
