Odd Sound Issue on Recovered SE/30 Simasimac

Hey, everyone. I'm posting again about my SE/30. I had originally recovered it from Simasimac status back in 2023. Then, due to the sound issue it was having, it's basically just been sitting in my closet. Figured it was time to try my hand at it again.

Here's a video of the problem:

It will intermittently chime correctly, but most of the time you'll just get a staticky chime and crackles that persist until you trigger the sound enough times. It appears to "fix itself" after that. Now I'm not super skilled with soldering or hardware in general (just hobbyist level), but I can look through the schematics and see what's connected and what isn't. I fixed the Simasimac issue with a lot of bodge wires and (admittedly) less than stellar soldering. I think I've narrowed the problem down to the circuitry between the ASC and Y3. Here's a video showing why I think this way:

I tried soldering bodge wires between those pins on the ASC and Y3, but no dice. I also tried reflowing that whole row of pins on the ASC, but that didn't work either. I removed the bodge wires so now I'm back to square one. Here are the most recent pictures of the board I have. The only thing I did after this was soak it in IPA overnight to remove a lot of the flux residue.

As you can see, it's kind of a mess haha. Any help would be appreciated! Other than the sound, it's a fully working board so really hoping to fully repair it. Thanks everyone!

it could be the amplifier IC below Q1 and Q2 (cannot recall the name, its surface mounted and has 8 pins) -- next to that blue cap.

It would be helpful (for you) to clean all the flux with isopropyl alcohol also.

Finally -- does the same noise happens with your headphones?

Yeah it does happen with headphones also. Sorry, I forgot to mention that. That amplifier chip is new. I replaced it because I read somewhere that it's a common failure point. All of the F258s are new as well as all the smaller video chips behind the blue cap

Update - after installing and booting from a new BlueSCSI into System 7.1, prompting sound from the control panel causes the computer to freeze. I didn't change anything else...

the garbled sound could also be a Digital (or analog? cannot remember) trace from the processor with contact (continuity) issues. you might want to check those

Hey thanks again for the reply. I've pretty much checked every trace in the sound circuitry and everything checks out, including the lines between the ASC and CPU. After the re-flow of the pins between ASC and Y3, booting off of floppyEMU produces perfect sound. Then, after a reboot from the SCSI disc/BlueSCSI, the sound issues occur again. I'm not too skilled with a multimeter past continuity, but it seems like something is shorting where the sound circuity interacts with SCSI. Please let me know if what I'm saying sounds like nonsense haha.

Woof, yeah I checked a few of those from the sound chip, but if you're saying it's from the processor to anything then it seems I have my work cut out for me. I'll post an update when I've gone through everything. Thanks!
