He was diagnosed with Parkinson decease 10 years ago, and held cafés for young patients to discuss.
I met him several times, at the Alchimie demoparty, and also various Free Software events like Capitole du Libre. Some years ago I picked up his work on the FireBee target for QEMU, though I never finished it either.
