I just finished recapping a Performa 550 board that would not boot before. After a cap replacement the board booted right up. The only problem is the left side of the screen is distorted and eventually has other blue color distortion across the icons when it is booted up.
The video distortion follows the board when booted in a cc chassis. A good cc board shows the monitor is fine in the 550 chassis.
the only other strange note it when I tried booting it up with the one memory stick installed it would crash chime i removed it. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Could it be the vram chips or a cap that is in the video circuit? Any suggestions would be appreciated
